New Pony Home!

Octavia finally made it down here late Wednesday night! Doyle Transport brought her to Walnridge Farm in New Jersey and I drove up after work on Wednesday to pick her up. Construction was taking place on 95, 295, and 195 so out 2.5 - 3 hr one way trip turned into 4 hours one way. :coffee:

We got home around 11:30pm and I put Ruby in the paddock with the donkeys and gave everyone hay. Then, I brough Octavia down and walked her around, showing her the electric, water troughs, mineral block etc. I turned her loose and besides one squeal, from Ruby, all was calm and quiet. I threw some more hay out and released Ruby, but left the donkeys locked up in the paddock over night. Hourly checks until 2 am showed the ponies weren't killing each other so I went to sleep.

Thursday morning Octavia had her first taste of horse food (she was on hay/pasture only in Canada). Mmm-mmm good she says! Ruby is obviously boss hoss though. Tavia is still skittish so I leave her halter on for the day. I took if off that night though and she's over her nervousness now. People = food therefore people = good. Some neighbor kids came over the other day and were throwing apples into the field and waving their arms trying to shoo Tavia away, but she was not leaving the fence until she had her apples!

Friday morning Ruby and Octavia were laying down side-by-side outside. Awww. :huggy:

Here are some pictures from Thursday, when they weren't quite the best of friends yet.

You know I'm not getting any closer than this to the evil mare...

Lovely big section of missing mane, due to rubbing it on the hay feeder in Canada.

Light "hazel" eyes.

Does that black box have carrots in it? (See her scar? Her upper lip was caught in the top of a gate as a yearling. It doesn't seem to bother her all, it's just a blemish).

Ruby's mean. I'm going away now...

HAHA, I told you!! :lalala: Like I said she needs a big (or treeless) saddle and a slooooow trail ride. She'd DIE on a fast trail ride. Horse cardiac arrest.
