New Puppy

So Sunday we picked up a new pug puppy. Cute as a button. But I know nothing.

Now granted he isn't mine. Because I didn't pay for him. But I will help with raising him. And I have no idea what to do with him. I am afraid I am going to step on him. He is always under my feet. Is there anything I can do to make sure he wont stay under my feet?

When can I give him a bath? (*really I just want to see him play in the bathtub*) Other than cords off the floor, is there anything else I need to keep away from him?

And he cries alot. Is that normal?

Give him lots of toys and keep everything you dont want chewed out of reach

And puppies cry ALL the time, just make sure every time he starts whining, you dont go and give him attention or he will see this as positive reinforcement and continue this behavior. Not sure about the bath thing, but I would wait till he gets a little older cause he is still so young (I am guessing like 8wks?).

Yeah i think he is 9. Yeah so i guess i need to stop picking him up when he is crying?

I think last night he has learned to start "barking" ......so it could get very loud in the house.

Yeah when a dog starts crying and you rush in and pick him up, he will equate that as a way to get attention, and believe me they pick up bad behaviors alot faster than good ones (or so it seems :lmao:) Yea puppy barks are the worst, really high pitched and extremely hard to ignore.

I gotta come see him!

Yeah you should! He is great. He goes running full speed around the house, then slow realizes that he can't stop. Crashes into things. Then goes after his tail. Why? because it's touching him. He is the greatest.

Sunday when we brought him home, we took him outside to get used to the yard. And the neighbors were out and came over to talk. So Duke goes running FULL speed to greet them, and smacks his face right into the fence. Funny stuff...kind of cruel to laugh...but he acted like nothing happened

I guess he is too little to play with my pup yet....maybe when he grows up though :lmao: Thats funny cause my dog runs around too fast and cant stop either, so he just runs into my legs causing me to flip over his head :lmao: It may be cute when they are little like that, but try having a 55lb dog smashing into things :bonk:

hahahaha, yeah. He has the older one who is two. Not quite sure what to do with him yet.

Duke will go running after Buddy and attack him, then run and hide behind me. it's cute. I'm glad we got the puppy, he is better than tv

The best part is how they tire themselves out, very minimal effort!
