Spirited, youthful (after all, he is only 3 1/2), fearless, too big for his britches once in a while (which does not go uncorrected), loves kids to death (even though we don't have any), ALWAYS in the mood to play, untiring, . Loves to run into people at full throttle (literally, hence my emergency room visit 2 weeks ago with a dislocated shoulder and bruised elbow from having my left leg whacked out from under me and trying to catch my fall), lives for fridge cleanout duty, but needs a little more socialization (which we're very anxious to work on).

We adopted him from a family on a military base in Arizona back in 4/07. They gave him away for free...sorely neglected and lacking any socialization with people and other dogs, never leash trained for walks, left in the backyard to bark and dig holes all day long, slept outside in a crate at night, and was fed "whatever's on sale from week to week." No wonder he was a farting freak when we brought him home, not to mention people and dog aggressive. We've brought him a long way but he still needs some edumacation.

Me, Alpha Mama, introduced him to a small pack at a friend's house a year ago with which we lived 24/7 for a month. The intro was hostile but the female alpha of the pack put him in his place rather quickly with the bigger-than-him, second-ranking male of the pack following suit on the reprimand. The third and much smaller dog of the pack, a female, needed only correct him with her ear-piercing yipes of belittling disapproval and humiliation. In a couple weeks, our little man was starting to play and interact with other dogs, albeit some issues still needing correction that would come with time.

We watch our Cesar Milan like devoted students and put it all into practice. We just need a treadmill, a couple of acres, and a pack of our own!

Do you guys down here do play dates versus taking your dogs to the dog park where you may have to contend with 10 or 15 dogs at a time?
