Just wanted to let everyone know about some new content on my web site, www.marlowheights60sand70s.com. Thanks to a lot of SOMD readers, I have been getting a lot of people checking out my site, which is a nostalgic look at Marlow Heights back in the 60s and 70s. I have also heard from a lot of people, from old classmates, parents of classmates and friends, and former Grits. I even found out that my old 5th Grade teacher at Sandymount Elementary School, was still living in the area. Check it out and let me hear your coments, inputs, and suggestions:
In the "About Me" page, I've added a picture of me at 10 years old with a "Monkees" shirt, as well as a portrait of me and my sisters back in '73.
In the "Do You Remember" continuation page, there is a very rare photo of the late 60s/early 70s horror show host, "Great Zucchini", from WDCA Channel 20, and a WTOP Channel 9 shot of horror show host "Sir Graves Ghastly" (with a sound bite of his unmistakable laugh/cackle).
A link to the Red Barn (remember the one on St. Barnabus Road?). I've even got the recipe to the sauce used for the "Big Barney" and "Barn Buster". Email me and I'll send it to you!
At the "Schools" link, there are a couple of class photos from Sandymount Elementary.
Of course at the "Sounds" page, you can hear jingles and commercials from the old WPGC and WEAM radio stations.
In the "Whatever Happened To?" page, I've tracked down a couple of old classmates/friends.
At the "Do You Remember?" page, check out the link which has the recipe for the old "Mighty Mo's"/Royal Burgers" (straight from Mr. Marriott).
Enjoy, and please do write with your recollections, suggestions, and pictures.
