New tire woes

Got brand spankin new Bridgestone Dueler Alenza H/L's on the Petemobile and they shook me like a hurricane. Took the truck back and the balance was jacked on 3 out of 4 tires. they re did the balance and it helped a lot but then on my road trip this weekend I noticed a vibe at 42-46mph and a vibe at 63-68mph.

Took it back again and they rechecked the balance, all good. Then I told them to break the bead on the right rear and remount it. They did that and it took 1.5 zo more weight to balance it. Took it out and it still shook me all night long. So I left it there and they did a "road force balance". I googled it and it looks cool but I am sceptical.

That's what we did with the Corvette. We were told the rims were bent by a tire place in PF. So we took it to LDG Automotive and had them balanced using the Hunter Road Force machine. It showed a bad tire...we got two new tires and the vibration was gone.

Well being that my truck rode just fine before they put these tires on I am guessing it is not a bent rim.

I don't want Cadillac smooth, I just don't want to chip a tooth when riding down the boulevard.

Mine wasn't a bent rim either but that's what the tire place said. I wasn't buying it, that's why we took it to the place that had the Hunter machine. Sounds like the place you had it done did a shiatty job.

Well they are the one doing the road force balance and they know now that I will not rename my truck "shake and bake" so they better fix it.

Easy fix would have been to just not drive 42-46 or 63-68mph but I have no suggestions how to get above either speeds. :lmao:

I'm glad I saw this. I've been dealing with a shimmy for months. :yay:

Take a pound out of right rear and put two rounds of wedge in the left. If that does'nt take care of it we'll throw a spring rubber in. GO!GO!GO! Clear high, Clear high.

if you will
I always get my tires and wheels "road force balanced" at R&R Automotive in San Souci when I get new tires. I can't really say that I've done any real analysis of how much better the resulting balance is, but I like the concept. The fact that wheels and tires are imperfect and that the machine can somehow determine the best orientation between the tire and the wheel so their imperfections balance each other out is pretty cool.

That, plus the humorless Pat Goss swears by the practice.

I just got Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts put on my truck. For a thousand bucks, you'd think it should feel like driving on a damn cloud, and to top it off, they broke off my auto tire pressure gauge thingy on my front tire and charged me another 100.00 bucks to fix it!

That seemed to fix it. In limited driving the shimmy and shake seems to be gone.

Pete, who did the work? It won't be too long before I need another pair of tires, and I'd love to know who has this stuff and actually knows how to use it well.
