R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System from Nikon

and

AF Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200mm f/2.8D ED from Nikon

It's a Macro lens, Macro flash.. now somebody want to learn me on how to use em??

That's a really nice len's but not designed for Macro stuff because it's minimum focal distance is 4.9 feet. Here is their Macro line. The main difference is having a very short focal distance. That's when Macro lights are needed as well, because your lens is so close to the subject that it blocks the natural light or normal flash from the subject.

interesting.. I bought it because it mentioned Macro, and it has a Macro focus setting... but you're right 4.9 feet focal distance.

THAT being said, what's the difference between micro and macro??

As CRF said earlier, the 80-200 is not really much for real macro's. It is listed as a macro lens do to it focuses closer that most telephoto lenses. Most will probably focus at around 8-9 feet, and this one goes to 4.9 ft. Meaning you will have to be at least 4.9 feet from subject for your camera to focus.

Got that part..

I didn't do my research, and apparently bought a lens that won't work for what I need it for. I need something for macro bench work. Circuit Card traces.. and the like. Camera within a foot maybe two feet, either that or I could have someone stand on the workbench.. Back to the drawing board.

I have the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Micro, that is more along the lines of what you are looking for....if you want to try it out, im sure we could meet up sometime to do so.

The R1C1 lighting system is SWEET BTW.

Actually have two systems, so have 2 R1C1 kits.. four flashheads plus two speedlights.. Now if I can find some down time to put them together and play with them.

Bought it for my lab, and now have to go back and search out another "Micro" lens that can do what I want it to do. Bummer, have to spend more money!
