New Version of FireFox

Downloaded it, and at first it seemed to work just fine. Then, some possible interoperability problems arose with Vista, like "hangups" and freezes. I did not have these problems with the Firefox 2.0 software.

Deleted it for now.

I'm running XP - it is good so far.

I'm running it with XP also and have had no problems. Just had hubby and daughter download it to their laptops, I will be doing it to the desktop tomorrow. I like it a lot better than I did when I first tried it years ago. Let's hope I keep liking it.

I should've made a backup of my bookmarks before I installed. Might've been because I uninstalled the Firefox 3 Beta 4 version first

Just loaded Version 3 on my sister's Vista - no problem. However, she never had FireFox and loves it!

Never looked back after changing from Internet Explorer, just downloaded Firefox 3.

And GWGuy, thanks for the link. I always thought it would offer it automatically.

Minor version changes (2.1 to 2.2, etc) are uploaded automatically, not always for the major version changes (2.x to 3.x, etc).

Version 2 has been randomly shutting off for me of late so I might try to update this tonight...

Also thinking about the Vista jump seeing that SP1 is out and all.

In My Opinion
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.15) Gecko/20080623 Firefox/2.0.0.15

thats what it just automatically updated me to.

That's version 2. To get Version 3, you have to go to the website and download it.

I found that v3 has an annoying habit on SoMD. Refreshed pages "flash" 2 or 3 times before they stabilize. V2 doesn't do that. Noticed in on 2 different PCs (laptop, desktop), different makes, both running XP SP3.

:jameo: It won't let me use the latest version of Hotmail.

Microsoft's response...

Currently, the full version of Windows Live Hotmail is not compatible with Firefox 3. We have identified the cause of the problem and are diligently working with Firefox to resolve the issue. This is expected to be resolved in the next release of Windows Live Hotmail scheduled for later this year. In the meantime we suggest the following workarounds:

1. Use the basic version of Windows Live Hotmail
2. Downgrade your browser version to Firefox 2
3. Install IEtab(add-on):
