 Thats what I did this time around. No wonder not everyone votes. They don't want to be swamped with phone calls and junk mail, not to mention junk email.
I wonder, can I unregister? :lmao:

I get the calls and I'm not even registered to vote in Virginia. I'm a Texas resident. I had one real person call me and ask me if I would vote for thier candidate. I told them no and then strung them along for a while letting them try and change my mind. I hope the time I spent saved someone else from a phone call.

Might as well stay home then because it looks like a tactic almost all of them use.

I didn't get a single call, guess I'm not important enough. Actually, I know that most of the campaigns only call registered voters who have not voted regularly in previous elections. Since I always vote, I'm not on the list.

Md. Lawyer Sues Over Robo Calls

Michael C. Worsham filed the suit Monday in Harford County Circuit Court against Gov. Bob Ehrlich and his running mate, Kristen Cox; two Harford County office-seekers; and a nonprofit group, Common Sense Ohio, which made calls on behalf of U.S. Senate candidate Michael S. Steele.

Worsham hopes his lawsuit will make such calls subject to the Do Not Call list. He said the calls violate federal and state communications rules.

"Preferably, I'd like to see these types of calls banned, so people who don't want to get them can stop them in advance," said Worsham.

Nationally, candidates spent millions on political phone calls this year, igniting a few complaints to the Federal Communications Commission. Frustrated voters said the calls are harassing and have argued that they violate federal rules requiring automated calls to be identified.

The FCC's rules on prerecorded calls require that they "at the beginning of the message, state clearly the identity of the business, individual, or other entity that is responsible for initiating the call," as well as provide the number of the caller during or after the message.

According to Worsham's suit, several calls placed to his home between Oct. 25 and Nov. 4 did not give the name or number of the callers. He noted that Ehrlich signed into law the Maryland Telephone Consumer Act in 2004.
