The Mayor’s Office of Economic Development and Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee will hold a press conference Tuesday to announce the 'Rebuilding New Orleans Sourcing Conference' set to take place Shanghai, China on September 26-28, 2006.
The conference, sponsored by the Chinese government through the Shanghai International Merchandising Center Company, will showcase Chinese building products and furnishings for import directly from China to the Port of New Orleans.
“This trip and conference is another important component to rebuild the metropolitan area economy. The City of New Orleans is thinking regionally and acting globally and welcomes
China ’s powerful economic engine to drive opportunities for our city and the metropolitan area,” Nagin said in a press release.
