NFL midseason report card...

Larry Gude

Strung Out
...can you believe it??? Half over already!

AFC East

Pats hanging in the absent Brady
Bills are for real
Jets are better with Favre. But not play off better.
Dolphins are ahead of schedule

Pats and Bills

AFC North

Steelers are the class of the division.
Ravens exceeding expectations
Browns? Who knows?
Bengals. As bad as expected, maybe worse.

Steelers

AFC South

Colts; is it over?
Titans only undefeated team!
Jax; also ran
Texans. Ho hum.

Titans.

AFC West

Chargers just out of sync.
Denver; over rated
Raiders not the worst team in the league.
Chiefs pretty darn bad

Someone has to win the division. I guess the Chargers?

Who eeks out the other wildcard? Denver? The Colts?
I'm looking for Kerry Collins second shot at the Lombardi.

NFC East

Giants; king until someone proves otherwise
Skins; exceeding expectations. Can they keep it going?
Dallas; Not dead yet.
Philly another solid team.

The best division in football; not one dog. Hell, all four are worthy of the playoffs. Giants, Skins and...Eagles!

NFC North

I have to confess the Packers made the right move.
Vikes?
Bears?
Lions? Oh, my.

Packers

NFC South

Carolina is back.
Tampa Bay is good, but how good?
Saints are not out of it
Falcons, not the worst team in the league

Carolina

NFC West

Who cares?

Cards
Seattle, bad year
49ers still an also ran
Rams resurgent

Call it the Cards

The two Wildcards will be a huge dog fight among all three non division winners in the East and two teams in addition to the winner in the South. 5 fighting for 2 spots.

The Giants last night proved they are still top dog.

...can you believe it??? Half over already!

AFC East

Pats hanging in the absent Brady(So much for him being a "product of a system" huh?)
Bills are for real(Not after the Dolphins, they're not)
Jets are better with Favre. But not play off better.(After what the Chiefs did to St Brett, they're missing Chad in NJ)
Dolphins are ahead of schedule(Parcells always has that effect his 1st year)

Pats and Bills (Bills and Pats)

AFC North

Steelers are the class of the division. That's like saying JPC is the class of Hoyer's opponents)
Ravens exceeding expectations(Let's wait til they get a book on Flacco)
Browns? Who knows?(certainly not Romeo)
Bengals. As bad as expected, maybe worse.Do they even know Marvin is still coaching that team?)

Steelers(In a walk)

AFC South

Colts; is it over?(Until they get Sanders and the O-line back)
Titans only undefeated team!(Just keep Kerry Collins sober)
Jax; also ran(Paging Mr Cowher! Mr Bill Cowher!!!)
Texans. Ho hum. (They're cursed with the orginal Jets' name)

Titans.

AFC West

Chargers just out of sync.(Nope. Norv has struck again)
Denver; over rated(No they're not! Just ask Mike Shanahan)
Raiders not the worst team in the league. (Just the worst owner since Georgia Frontiere and Bob Irsay have died)
Chiefs pretty darn bad (Nothing firing Herm Edwards won't fix)

Someone has to win the division. I guess the Chargers?I think Norv will melt down further and Shanahan will get the smoke and mirrors in gear.)

Who eeks out the other wildcard? Denver? The Colts? Ravens
I'm looking for Kerry Collins second shot at the Lombardi.

NFC East

Giants; king until someone proves otherwiseThe King is dead!
Skins; exceeding expectations. Can they keep it going? Long live the King!
Dallas; Not dead yet. No quite, but have the coroner on standby
Philly another solid team. Only between Andy Reid's ears

The best division in football; not one dog. Hell, all four are worthy of the playoffs. Giants, Skins and...Eagles!

NFC North

I have to confess the Packers made the right move. The Jets are asking for refund
Vikes? They're thinking of organizing another cruise. Anyone interested?
Bears? Kyle Orton???Bwaaaaahaaaaa!!!!!
Lions? Oh, my. They need to find the wizard for that courage.

PackersBy Default

NFC South

Carolina is back.Until it really counts
Tampa Bay is good, but how good? Not good enough
Saints are not out of itUntil Drew Brees gets a hernia in the pregame circle
Falcons, not the worst team in the leagueNot even in the bottom three

CarolinaI like Chucky here

NFC West

Who cares? Not me

Cards They're trying to get a refund on "The Edge"
Seattle, bad yearHow lame is your duck of a coach when you're second to the Friggin Cardinals?
49ers still an also ranNot even a semblance of a team. But God bless Singletary
Rams resurgentUntil the "new" wears off of Haslett

Call it the CardsOnly because everyone else tied for 2nd

The two Wildcards will be a huge dog fight among all three non division winners in the East and two teams in addition to the winner in the South. 5 fighting for 2 spots. Dallas and Redskins

The Giants last night proved they are still top dog.

Nothing to see here
Either one or both of these teams won't make it to the big show.

Titans will make the superbowl and probably win it. I see absolutely no one in the AFC thats better. They could be 5-2 now and I'd still say the same. They have a monster run game and haven't even had to rely on passing the ball. I'm almost will to bet that they are averaging more on the ground than thru the air.

I agree. If I had to pick a Super Bowl winner it would more than likely be the Titans at this point. Why? Defense...defense...defense. Their team resembles the Ravens Super Bowl team. However, we're only at the mid-point of the season and freak things happen in the NFL. Other than that, the playoffs brings an entire new season. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win it all and I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose in their first playoff game.

Almost...

1015 rushing yards
1153 passing yards

Of course, passing yards are much easier to get so your point still holds water.

We mentioned the NFL stats page the other day. Interesting when you go to standings, then sort them by league. Click on the various columns to get the category rankings.

NFL Standings: League

And granted, it is only week 8 and things always seem to change through the regular season. And then there's the play-off games. I don't subscribe to the Titans vs. Giants idea just yet, too early to tell in both cases given the unknowns about the rest of the season.
