Hubby and I are taking a road trip. We have only two destinations on our schedule and I wanted to see if anyone knew of some neat little towns or restaurants not to be missed. Road trip heads to Benezette, PA via I 70W and then onto Niagra Falls, NY.

You'll be close

You're going right past Buffalo, NY. Visit the Anchor Bar (You can google it for the address) Originator of the Buffalo Chicken wings! (must have with Bleu cheese and celery)

Niagara Falls NY is a hole. A real pit. Lots of old, run down and closed buildings. Niagara Falls, Canada is much nicer with lots more to see and do and much better views of the falls. Goat Island and cave of the winds tours on the American side are good. If you plan to cross into Canada, it will be helpful to have your passports! have a good time!

Don't fall in. I would like to take the rapids running trip up the upper part of the river, maybe lower and the Queen of the Mist trip up to the falls. I should have been in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada today, but that trip fell through.

If you're going anywhere near Bradford, PA you can go to the Zippo Lighter museum. Second the Anchor Bar too. If you don't want wings, get Beef on Weck and some Poutine.

It's The Maid of The Mist, but who cares.

I'll put in my vote for the Canadian side as well :howdy: Larry and I took the girls on an RV trip up there a bunch of years ago and had a blast.

When I roadtrip I stop at the visitor's center when I enter a state and check out what they have along my route (or close enough). All those little brown signs that say "Hey, there's something here to see"? I stop and see. If there's a sign that says, "Our historic little town is off the next exit," I take the next exit.

Took me three days just to get through Iowa last September.

Have a wonderful vacation! Driving is definitely the way to go!

Hit up the Canadian side for sure. Canadians are the cleanest people ever. Maple leaf village is right there. Also a tower with a restaurant that revolves. The falls at night are awesome when lit up. The horseshoe falls are the best. Maid of the mist is awesome and if you can travel a bit north to Niagara on the Lake.

Yep and you can get a hotel room with a great view of the falls if you want.

I was lucky that my whole family was born in bred in Buffalo. I spent every summer there and all major holidays. We would go to Canada at least once a week in the summer. Of course then you just told them where you were born, what you were going to do for the day on the way over. Then they ask if you have anything to declare on the way back.

When I say clean, I have never seen a more clean tourist spot ever. Even the amusements parks are immaculate. The workers there have it picked up before it has time to hit the ground. I also did the elevator ride down behind the falls that is on the US side. But the Canada attractions win hands down, The MOM & the journey behind the falls were amazing. That tower I spoke of was the Skylawn Tower. I also read they have a cable car ride that goes over the falls called The Whirlpool Aero Car. That looks really cool. We also would go to SeaWorld & visit little towns. The landscaping is gorgeous and for fun you can go over on The Peace Bridge and then drive a bit and cross back over on The Rainbow Bridge.

Also on the Canadian side of the falls when you go up to the railing at the very far right end you are literally within a few feet of being able to touch the falls. If you are looking to do other things in the Buffalo area for fun just ask and I will assist as much as I can. But if the Falls are you main focus Canada & passports for everyone. Also make sure if you exchange your money for Canadian that you change it back before you cross back over. A lot of places in Canada only take Canadian Money and many on the US won't take the Canadian. I always found it helpful to exchange what we thought we would need, that way you do not get confused trying to convert prices.

And let's not forget the Superman saved a child from going over the falls while on his and Lois' Honeymoon.

Had a fantastic trip! The Falls are beautiful. Stayed the night in Canada, won some money in the casino and got to see the Falls lit up at night. Thanks again for all of your info. If we had just gone to the American side we would have missed a great experience.
