Anyone know if the convenience center will take NiCad batteries? I couldn't find anything on the website about them.

Hit or miss. They used to, but for a while they stopped taking batteries and would only take lead acid. Then they did again. Didn't look Sat when I went.

Agree. The transfer station at Valley Lee had a can outside the attendant shack for batteries. I don't remember if it is still there.

Most in St Mary's only take rechargeable as well. When I asked about regular batteries, I was told to toss them.

I think Lowes still has a recycle station in the front entryway that takes rechargeable batteries, compact fluorescents and plastic shopping bags.

Good call Kyle. St Mary's Transfer stations are supposed to take recyclable batteries with the little circle arrow sign on it. I think the problem was St. Mary's transfer stations were taking ALL batteries, and it seemed they were getting overwhelmed because folks were tossing alkalines in there too...Then I read somewhere recently that the EPA decided to make akalines disposable, so hopefully the little lithium button cells and other ni-cad & ni-mh batts are being accepted again and without all the alkalines mixed in.
