Nissan SE-R

I bowl overhand
Bought a 2002 that wasn't running very well when I got it.

It would start, run like crap (idle great) and would die less than 1/4 mile down the road, but NEVER had an issue starting.

So I replaced the MAF, tested the alternator, replaced the V-Belt and battery, it started, ran great.. once or twice.

Now I can't get it to start. Will crank, it's getting fuel, (haven't checked spark yet, but am assuming it's NOT getting a spark.

It does have an aftermarket cold air induction system on it, as well as assorted other farkle..

Anyone have any experience with Nissans??

Thanks!

Take a plug out, put the boot back on it, hold it with a pair of rubber-handled channel locks against a valve cover or other metal surface and turn 'er over.
If you see the spahk; there's far.

check the 02 sensor and associated wiring. especially if it's got some tinkering done to it. might be running rich???

also check all connections on that CAI as it could be leaking unmetered air past the MAF.

*edit* hopefully the timing isnt off. It's possible the previous owner put those adjustable cam gears on it and it is not set properly. could check that out too.

My brother had some year SE-R and it ran great except for the finicky 6th gear and reverse. Lots of torque for that little car.

Or just get your trusting little boy to hold the wire like my Dad did.

Stupid, maybe, but have you tried jump starting it?

That's another option. You can put a charger on the battery for a while and see if that helps.
Then work from there.....the MAF sensor, plugs, plug wires, distributor/coil pack......I have never worked on an SE-R; that's why I said "coil pack." Many of the imports have them; not distributors.

Just saw a picture of the engine bay. That's A LOT of things "stuffed" in there.
