If anyone has already started a thread like this then I am sorry. Correct me if I am wrong and this is not a sure thing, just something that I heard today. I was at work when a man came in and started talking to us about the gas prices and how crazy they were. He said that sheetz and wawa were going to be cut off from gas and then the prices would be raised however the gas people wanted them to be. I guess they are trying to get rid of a contract they have with sheetz and wawa or something. I did not catch everything the man said and what I did hear, I beleive I heard correctly but I could be wrong. Anyone hear something like that?

It could be just a rumor though, sheetz and wawa can't just stop all together like that but you never know.

I think that Sheetz and Wawa buy on the spot market. With a fuel shortage, there may not be a spot market. They may not be able to get gas. I think that is why Crown gas stations' prices are so high, too.

I heard from a co-worker that Charlotte, N.C. was short or out of gas.

I do not know what a spot market is exactly but I get what you are saying. The hurricane destroyed many oil wells making a big shortage which means inflation of gas prices. It was just 2.99 the other day and now it is up to 3.19. They said by the end of the holiday it will be 4.00. In many places people are just stealing food and everything because even food prices are going up because alot of the food is going to people in need of it. The man that came into my work said that police officers were also caught stealing stuff. everything is just crazy. :ohwell:

I got in line to buy gas tonight at the Shell in Calloway. The price was 2.76 so the line was 14 cars deep on both sides. Well worth it though.

It comes down to what do you cherish more, your time or your money? I for one, would rather pay the 6 bucks more for 20 gallons at a more expensive station.

Up here WaWa is more expensive than Shell and Exxon (we don't have a Sheetz), so I've been filling up at the Dash In. I keep refilling before it hits a half a tank b/c I refuse to spend 60 bucks in one trip.

I paid $2.71 at a station in Leonardtown today at 12:00. At 12:30 it changed to $2.99. Granted, I only needed 3 gallons to top it off, but I guess I saved a bit.

Exactly. They buy "unbranded" gasoline. That's why their prices are normally so much lower. However, right now, that means they are the last one to receive gas and are paying higher costs for it, because all the gas is going to the big boys (exxon, shell) first.

Will they go out of business? I doubt it. That's a rumour started because people are feeling panic and are worried over the unknown.

I had a phone call last night that the state troopers in GA are guarding the gas stations. I think the Southern states have more to worry about than us. Most states along the exodus route are out of gas and/or have extremely high prices. They are out of gas, because their previous suppliers came out of the most damaged areas. Therefore their business has been interrupted. It's so high in other places, because they do have gas and scared /running people have no choice but to pay the money. In turn the average everyday citizen who lives in the area along the exodus routes are suffering as well. We are really lucky in comparision.
