No tax on overtime

At first I scoffed and was like, "Come on, Daddy, stop throwing out the dumb campaign promises. You're not a Democrat. :smack: "

Then I thought about it a bit more....

In general I'm for tax reductions for the middle and lower income brackets. Those folks are largely your overtime workers. So I'm actually for this new campaign promise even though I'm not sure if Trump can executive order that. Anything that has to go through Congress takes decades, if it doesn't get tabled, unless it's a bunch of crooked criminal Democrats trying to impeach a President they don't like over nothing - THAT sh*t gets the red carpet treatment.....

I don't get tips and overtime doesn't apply to me. The goodie I get is is no tax on social security. I think that's brilliant and will help a lot of people especially since inflation is outpacing both wages AND social security.

I still think there should be no income tax, and instead a federal sales tax or consumption tax or fair tax or whatever they're calling it these days. Of course the rich fat cats don't like that because they can't hide it the way they can play fast and loose with "income". There are people getting quite wealthy in illicit professions or paid under the table who aren't kicking in at all, and a consumption tax would force them to pay up. It works great in states with no income tax, so there's no reason why it wouldn't work on a national level.

What I really REALLY want is for the government to stop wasting all our tax bucks on bullshit. Americans are having a hard time, and we're paying to support foreign nationals who are in this country illegally. That's effed up. We're sending money to hostile foreign nations to fight their wars and getting nothing out of the deal. We foot the bill for a lot of crap and that money could be put to much better use.

I fully acknowledge I’m talking to a ghost here because you ignored me, but this thread is too much catnip.

I really really doubt you pay much of anything in federal tax, just based on what you typed.

We are the world’s reserve currency and were able to print what we need, Perot ran on the deficit and Clinton balanced the budget. Then George W hated that rich folks paid any taxes, he cut their taxes by the highest amount on record and then started two wars to take all the savings Clinton created.

But if you read anything about economics it would be incredibly painful to Americans if we didn’t have a deficit, there would be no federal reserve rate, which gives the govt a thumb on the scale to control economic activity.

Most folks, and I’ll assuming you too, think the US budget is like a household budget, it’s not.

Read this book to understand why Trump exploding the deficit was actually a GOOD policy
