Note that this was taken before the Comey disaster...I highlighted some of the more damning numbers...4 months on the job and 58% disapprove overall. The one I found most interesting is only 52% disapprove of his handling of the economy. Given the man has done absolutely nothing and proposed no legislation to impact the economy (again, despite it being 6 months since his election---drawing a "tax plan" on a cocktail napkin doesn't count btw)...how can only 52% disapprove? Where is the infrastructure plan? Where is the well thought out tax plan? Where is the job creation program? Where is the program to incentivize companies to build factories here? Where is any of it??? WTF is he doing? Oh, right he's watching Fox and Friends while pushing a little button to order his serfs to bring him a Coke.
American voters, who gave President Donald Trump a slight approval bump after the missile strike in Syria, today give him a near-record negative 36 - 58 percent job approval rating, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today. Critical are big losses among white voters with no college degree, white men and independent voters....
The president is losing support among independent voters and groups which are important parts of his base. Approval ratings are:
Negative 29 - 63 percent among independent voters, down from a negative 38 - 56 percent April 19;
A split among white voters with no college degree, as 47 percent approve and 46 percent disapprove, compared to a 57 - 38 percent approval April 19;
White men go from a 53 - 41 percent approval April 19 to a split today with 48 percent approving and 46 percent disapproving.

American voters' opinions of several of Trump's personal qualities are down: 61 - 33 percent that he is not honest, compared to 58 - 37 percent April 19;
56 - 41 percent that he does not have good leadership skills, little change;
59 - 38 percent that he does not care about average Americans, compared to 57 - 42 percent April 19;
66 - 29 percent that he is not level-headed, compared to 63 - 33 percent last month;
62 - 35 percent that he is a strong person, little change;
56 - 41 percent that he is intelligent, compared to 58 - 38 percent;
64 - 32 percent that he does not share their values, compared to 61 - 35 percent.

American voters disapprove 52 - 40 percent of the way Trump is handling the economy. His grades on handling other issues are:
44 percent approve of the way he is handling U.S. policy toward North Korea and 48 percent disapprove;
Disapprove 59 - 36 percent of the way he is handling foreign policy;
45 percent approve of the way he is handling terrorism and 48 percent disapprove;
Disapprove 62 - 35 percent of the way he is handling immigration.

By a 54 - 38 percent margin, American voters want the Democratic Party to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives. This is the widest margin ever measured for this question in a Quinnipiac University poll, exceeding a 5 percentage point margin for Republicans in 2013

If Democrats had won control of the U.S. Senate in the 2016 elections, the country would be in a better place than it is now, 41 percent of voters say, while 27 percent say it would be in a worse place and 30 percent say it would be the same.

American voters dislike Democrats less than they dislike Republicans: Voters disapprove 71 - 22 percent of the way Republicans in Congress do their job;
Voters disapprove 58 - 34 percent of the way Democrats in Congress are doing their job.

Agree - looks like bad news.

Do you have a point? Is this meaningful in some way?

Must be quite refreshing for you to have a President that doesn't make decisions based on polls but what's best for the country..

8 years of leadership via polls really didn't work to well did it??

And Quinnipiac?? How much did they say Hillary was going to win by?? Landslide??

Uh, Trump himself talks about the 'numbers' and ratings all the time. Polls, numbers, ratings, he declares himself obsessed by the news. Not philosophy. Not history books. Not even the US constitution.

He knew the numbers he needed to get to, state by state, to win. So did Hillary. His polls showed he could do it. Hers showed her could not. I think it's silly to even begin to suggest that the most 'poll' driven celebrity we have operates on any other principle than that.

I saw a video the other day where the person talking mentioned something that people talked a lot about during the campaign.

Say you're a Trump supporter - and because of that, you're called a racist, a bigot, an idiot, a homophobe, an Islamophobe, a misogynistic pig - a *deplorable*.

And a pollster asks - do you support him or not? (Or if it was last fall, are you planning to vote for him?).

What do you suppose are the chances that you might *LIE*? Or at least, say you're undecided?

So - how good is a poll, KNOWING that there are people out there who will HATE you, unfriend you, pull up your signs - or worse - if you're willing to say, yeah, I like what he's doing?

Sure, it ain't everyone who supports him, but if you antagonized people who support him, you're not going to persuade them away - you're just going to get them to not talk to you.

Workaround:

For every post you make in response to one of hers, simply imagine that she did reply back, and her reply insinuates that you are a parochial knuckledragging heathen bereft of education and morals. Imagine that written in a tone of utter contempt and debasing hatred, and you won't even be able to tell the difference between that and a real conversation with her.
