My husband and I are moving to Lusby soon; anyone know of any decent non-denominational churches in the area? I'm not familiar at all with the area and am open to suggestions

I don't have any inside information but I hear "The Rock Church" is nice. :huggy:

Non-denominational...

leaves the door a little wide open....

Liturgical?
Ecumenical?
Contemporary?
Seeker-oriented?
Missions oriented?
"Full Gospel?"
African-American?

Those terms stretch beyond most denominations and can be found in many regional churches. This a pretty "strongly-attending" region so you will have plenty to pick from!

thanks for the input! my hubby is the one more experienced with religious terms. i was raised Catholic, and he was raised Methodist. i would say we're looking for a more contemporary service and one that also has things like bible studies during the week, etc.

Try PRAG Patuxent River Assembly of God.. It's across the bridge but I was a member for years and it is extremely family oriented.

Now that is an interesting mix!

I know that Chesapeake Presbyterian up in Sunderland has always been very contemporary but also is very committed to small groups and mid-week studies. I hesitate to get into the contemporary scene so I really can't offer other churches with that approach. You may be a bit disappointed with the Methodist churches down here....I have never heard of one being really committed to the authenticity and application of God's word. BUT: not your average Presbyterians!

There is a church down in Lex Pk that is called SAYSF (?)...-Seek Ye First...
and they are strongly committed believers.

Calvary Bible Church is strongly committed to missions and has small groups, but does not embrace contemporary worship except for an occasional band that plays for a Fri evening coffee house and during some summer services.
They are located in Lusby,- Pastor Al Brockman.

Yeah, it is an interesting mix. after my family got over the fact that he was white (i'm mexican), the religion was a whole new problem :) Thanks for the suggestions, it's hard to look for churches just driving around up there.

You are certainly welcome at the church to which I go, First United Pentecostal Church of Lexington Park. They are very active, Holy spirit filled, Bible based, family oriented, friendly, loving body of Christ. They are part of the United Pentecostal Church which is a denomination, but I do not find that the denominational aspect dominates the church.
