Fever means keep the kid home. Period.

I hope you are keeping her home. I think if more parents did this, when the child was ill, there would be less germ spreading throughout the school.

My daughter stayed home Friday - the first time in years! She gave me her cooties and I was in bed all weekend. Now hubby is sick. :ohwell:

My daughter started developing cold symptoms Friday morning, and was icky all weekend, still is. No fever though, but major nasal congestion. She's a senior at Chopticon and this is the first cold she has had since April...........she woke up this morning and felt a little better, but still a little congested.

Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands!

Those antibacterial alcohol thingies are not all they're cracked up to be, but at least they are something. The purpose of hand-washing is to remove the germs from the hands via the running water, you don't even need antibacterial soap! All the use of antibacterial stuff is only making germs mutate and become immune to them! Tell your kids, wash your hands whenever you can, as often as you can! And, take Vitamin C EVERY DAY! You cannot overdose on it, what you don't use will be eliminated the next time you go tinkle! If your child is in Elementary school, send in some Lysol with your child and a note to the teacher...

Getting sick stinks, but just think of the immunities your child is building whilst missing out on his/her studies, lol!

Prevention method

Because colds are transmitted via contact as well as being airborne, one of the ways to prevent getting a cold via contact is to make sure you keep your hands washed frequently, and wipe down surfaces (phones, computer keyboards, etc.) that multiple people use.

Where I work, we all have to use the same phones and computers and I make it a habit of wiping down stuff. They think I'm wierd but that's better than getting sick and having to take off.

our kids were back for 4 days when I got sick.

You will be your kid's teacher's best friend if you send them to school with a box of tissues and a bottle of hand sanitizer. I keep some in my classroom for my students to use but after a while, it gets expensive to keep buying it myself.
