Not just a son of a man....

Matthew 9:1 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”
3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”
4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? 5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.
I highlighted the story.... Jesus healed a paralyzed man. He was in Nazareth when He did this healing.... it says up in verse He "came to his own town". The teachers of the law didn't like it. They taught that the man was paralyzed by sin. Jesus wasn't God [they said] so Jesus couldn't forgive sins. Jesus not only healed the man... right there in front of the teachers of the law and everybody. Jesus even had the nerve to utter "your sins are forgiven"!!!!! How dare He?!?!

Wasn't Jesus a good boy when He was a child? Weren't the people the least surprised that the good kid grew up to heal a paralyzed man?

Don't the people know Him as that boy that moved back here after Herod [the first Herod... not the one that chopped off John's head] passed away? Herod, the first one, found out from the three kings, that Jesus was about to be born. They told Herod that He would be King.... so, Herod had all the babies murdered. A baby can't grow up to be king if he's murdered at birth. Jesus would have stuck out like a sore thumb.... right age.... Jewish in religion.... and His Uncle was a Priest. Jesus should have drawn all kinds of good attention growing up.

Instead of being excited over the major healing.... the teachers of the law wanted to go after Jesus for blasphemy! Jesus wasn't getting a warm loving welcome from everyone He met. First the people told Him to leave... when their pigs ran off the cliff. Now He's being called a blasphemer in His own hometown.

The people who saw this healing take place were excited for the guy. They were in awe of Jesus. On top of that.... some of them might have been pleased that Jesus talked back to those know-it=all teachers of the law.

Jesus ordered the man to get up and pick up his mat. Jesus told the man to go home. He didn't send this man to the priest. There was a ritual required for healing Leprosy, but no one was healing the paralyzed. Jesus did that. Those who saw it were in awe!

On top of that... Jesus knew their thoughts!!!! Verse 4 says so! Jesus was a mind reader. He knew He would be in big trouble if He healed that man.... but He did it anyway!

Jesus healed those whom no one else could. People would think He really was the Son of God.... not just a son of a man.
