Not over rated vacations spots/trips?

...yin, yang.

Sitting on a deck just watching the water and boats, being out on a boat, swimming, water skiing, tubing, wake-board, jet skis, Honi Honi, sitting in tubes just floating and sipping on a beer, getting the grill going, sitting out a summer thunderstorm, motorcycle rides all around the country and the lake, mountain biking, hiking, golf, state park beach...fall, spring, snow skiing, X country skiing, snow tubing. Everyone's life would be more better to see fireworks at least once from a boat up McHenry cover with 1,000 other boats. The ride home is epic.

Deep Creek lake is not over rated. The only thing that really sucks is a busy Saturday PM when WAY too many boats are out. But, there is ALWAYS something else to do. Including a good book, a nap, or any of the other not boating activities.

It's not very buggy. It's rarely too hot. It's not too far from supplies and mini golf and go carts and stuff but, you can get back in the more remote parts.

Deep Creek. Truly four seasons.

The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is not over-rated. It is beautiful, friendly, clean and there are several sites within the area such as the butterfly conservatory and the botanical gardens that are worth a visit. The Canadians seem to realize that their livelyhood is based on happy tourism so they take it serious.

NYC is not overrated. No matter what you like to do with your vacation, you'll find it in Manhattan. Each neighborhood is like going somewhere completely different for food, shopping, bars, museums, live entertainment, human interaction. If what you really want to do is enjoy nature and go fishing, you can't beat Central Park.

My trips there are never long enough.

And getting to and from on the train. That's the stuff, right there.

However, it's a long weekend place. I could never spend a week there unless I was on a mission like hitting all the kewl club/band places.

CBGB's :rip:

I could spend two weeks there easy. As many times as I've been there, I STILL haven't done everything I want to and I haven't yet branched out to the other boroughs.

Well, you and Mo get the camper, see, and set up shop in Central Park, see, set out a wash line, get a fire going, do a little fishing, and explore!

Just set up a sign that says you're with the park service or the Discovery Channel or something...!!!

Disney World is not overrated. Just don't take your young children because keeping them from becoming overstimulated and causing an incident is what is NOT fun about Disney. And remember to FastPass - only dumb people stand in those crazy lines.

The entire point of Disney is to over stimulate.

Mission Beach in San Diego can never be overrated, and the optics are out of this world. Just sit on the seawall facing the sidewalk - you will see the entire world go by in the course of just a few hours. Best place to stakeout a portion of the seawall is in front of the little green space/park between the beach and parking lot. Killer.

DW is overrated, and a good reason to not take your youngsters is the nearly $100 per head just to get into the park for a day of sweating, standing in line, and whining.

Atlantic City is overrated.

And I felt that way well before Hurricane Sandy and the recent casino closings.
