Not quite as gruesome...

But still, pretty bad.

Here's the thing. Modern recording techniques, including Pro Tools software allow an engineer to pitch and tempo correct an artist, say, like Ashlee, who, well, has trouble with things like tempo and pitch.

So, you buy an album and, wow, she sounds about as good as anyone else!

But live, like her SNL debacle or this recent travesty, well, live performance seperates the 'acts' from the 'artists'.

Lotta people suck live.

I've heard a LOT of professional and amateurs live, and THAT by far was the worst!! I've heard a LOT better from our local High School talent.. and yet, she's rich!? SOMEbody got suckered!!

Course her dad will come out and say.."Yeah she can't sing, but look at her tits!!" Classy chitbag that he is!!

I've read that Tim McGraw uses that kind of software on stage. (Right now I can hear SxyPrincess yelling "Blasphemy!")

In Ashlee's case, it seems that the only reason she's a "star" :guffaw: is because her dad (who has a stage-mother complex with his daughters) pushed her into a recording career.

The fact that Ashlee can't sing obscures the larger problem with the recording industry. Of course performers have always been marketed on their looks. But in years past, they had some real stage experience. Now a no-talent like Ashlee can become a "phenomenon" on looks and marketing alone. I'd like to see Ashlee try to please an Australian audience--the guitarist for INXS says that most bands wouldn't last five minutes on the stages in his home country.

Kelly Clarkson's vocal performance (after they gave her a functioning microphone) was only slightly more acceptable.

I wonder if the problem isn't really a hex on young female pop stars performing during nationally (internationally) televised half-time shows! :cartwheel

I had never heard anything from her so I had no idea what to expect, is it me or is she trying to be Joan Jett and doing really badly at it?
