Dear Marylanders,

While the way we celebrate Thanksgiving this year may be different, we still have so much to be thankful for. I am especially thankful for the continued strength and resilience of the people of our great state—the thousands of Marylanders who have made sacrifices to keep each other safe, who are donating food to local food banks, checking on their neighbors, supporting their favorite restaurants, and supporting each other during this difficult time.

We want Marylanders to be able to enjoy the holidays as safely as possible.

  • Federal and state health officials continue to advise against holiday travel, and strongly recommend that families celebrate only with members of their immediate household. Read holiday FAQs from the Maryland Department of Health here.
  • If you choose to visit with individuals from outside of your household, limit the number of guests, use outdoor spaces as much as possible, wear masks, maintain physical distancing, and clean frequently touched surfaces often. Then, make a plan to get tested.
  • Beginning tonight and continuing through the holiday season, the Maryland State Police will be working with local leaders, law enforcement, and county officials to educate the public about existing orders and protocols, prevent super-spreading events, and take enforcement actions when necessary.
  • This holiday season brings unique pressures and challenges. If you or a loved one is having difficulty coping, please don’t wait to seek help. You can find resources regarding mental health by starting here.

Thank you for standing together in this fight and for staying Maryland Strong.

Sincerely,

Signature: Larry Hogan
