I have not watched the video, don't care to watch the news about this because it is being spun every which way on both sides. I grew up with guns in my home, 12 gauge and a BB Gun. I was told from the time I could understand it that even the BB Gun could kill a person accidentally. I was never interested in them. My husband owns guns, we have learned to deal with the fact we disagree on them. I feel there is no reason for a civilian to have an assault/military like rifle, if you want to use that go join up! What are you hunting that you need an assault rifle with an extended mag? The 2nd Amendment includes the words "Well Regulated" which to me means rules, laws if you will about the arms you bear. And "Militia" which I take to mean a military trained group that you call up in times of need, like The National Guard say. So to me, and this is just my opinion, that so long as we regulate the guns, and we have the National Guard, the average person doesn't NEED or REQUIRE an assault rifle with an extended magazine. Take this for whatever you like. I left these forums years ago because so many times things go off topic and there seems to be no way to have a rational discussion on things but here I am, back to give it another try. Many new faces.

Quotes from the founding fathers say otherwise.

The point of the 2A is so that citizens could fight back against tyranny. It's not about hungting, or what you think someone needs.

They're like parachutes.

There's really no good reason to have one until you need it.

If you aren't going to educate yourself on what you are talking about then you shouldn't have an opinion on it. An education on firearms does not come from watching CNN or MSNBC btw.

A 30 round magazine is not "extended" it is standard. Other than that you think a person should not have a weapon that looks similar to an M-16 although the function of the action is more like a standard hunting weapon, and the typical round it fires is so small that it is considered too small in the game guidelines to use on whitetail and is considered more of a varmit round.

And you define the words in the 2 Amendment with how you interrupt them today. Have you ever looked up the meaning of those words at the time when they were used? It's been ruled upon several times already, it means the individual. Also, "Regulated" isn't referring to restricting arms. Come on, just a little research please!

Right wing nuts keep it up , you keep up acting like the fools and ass's that you are and gun reform will be easy.

NRA Heckles Father of Sandy Hook Shooting Victim | Crooks and Liars

Rational people know that military-style assault weapons aren't used for hunting anything but humans.

:bs:

You really need to not talk about things you know nothing about..

They are used for hunting small game up to and including deer (where it's not limited to shotgun only)...

And semi auto weapons (Assault Weapons) in .308 or larger are the preferred weapon when hunting dangerous game like Bear.. "HOLY CRAP.. you mean ARs come in more than just .223???" Figure your level of ignorance you didn't know that either, so thought I'd share.

You may want to change the channel from Nickelodoan every now and then and maybe see for yourself..

According the the new (and old) rules, the Army/ Military doesn't have assault weapons..

You see their weapons are full automatic capable (say Machine Gun) or burst capable..

NONE of the weapons you people that know nothing about it want to make illegal are capable of that. NONE..

SO, if we (civilians) have Military Assault Weapons.. what does the military have EXACTLY??

So...a couple of things:

The dad who was or wasn't heckled - is he now a saint and unimpeachable authority because he had a kid die? Ann Coulter talks about this, how the Left will take some person who has had a tragic incident happen and use them as a shield and mouthpiece. Then, if anyone dares disagree with them, they get branded as insensitive and hateful. How dare you disagree with this man who is devastated over the loss of his child!

They also do that with little kids, trot them out to spew nonsense. Then, when anyone dares to question them, they get accused of picking on a little kid. It's very similar to how Al Qaeda hides in elementary schools because if the military come to get them they get accused of shooting up a school. It's just PR manipulation.

Second, Crooks and Liars is such a bunch of bull####. The loon who wrote that piece doesn't even go by a real name. And that's fine, but it's obviously opinion and not news to be taken seriously. She/he/it shows bias in the first paragraph, where she/he/its opinion is the only rational one and everyone who disagrees is crazy.

If anyone has turned this into an "emotionally laded" irrational conversation it's the Left, not the NRA.

You are right Vrai I let my emotions get in the way of any rational thinking.
The next time 20 7 year old kids get killed at school I will remove all emotion from my thinking.

Unless we actually DO something that relates to the ending of these atrocities and stop getting our panties in a bunch over gun control they will keep happening.

I find it interesting that one of the principles of the Dems is gun control, but in the time Obama has been in office it has NEVER come up.

Why is that?

I believe they KNEW it was going to happen.. They knew, and know now, what the cause is, and chose to do nothing about it, or do anything to prevent it from happening.

They sat quietly by waiting for their opportunity to get the public spun up over gun control.. I find it sad they have to stand on the graves of 26 little children to try to further their agenda, don't you?

Imagine if 4 years ago they actually DID something to prevent this from happening. Better mental health facilities.. No more catch and release for dangerous criminals.. etc.. etc.. But that wouldn't have given them this fantastic opportunity that has been presented to them.

I mean really, are you that ignorant to think Feinstein wrote this comprehensive bill in a matter of days? Or is it more believabe that she took MONTHS to write it, and did it years ago, just waiting for the right opportunity?

Again, these animals have no class, and no regard for civility.. to use dead children to further their agenda..

Where's your outrage, and emotion for the innocent children killed by drone stikes in Pakistan?

If 20 kids stirs emotion, how about 176?

"TBIJ reports that from June 2004 through mid-September 2012, available data indicate that drone strikes killed 2,562 - 3,325 people in Pakistan, of whom 474 - 881 were civilians, including 176 children. TBIJ reports that these strikes also injured an additional 1,228 - 1,362 individuals," according to the Stanford/NYU study.

Drone strikes kill, maim and traumatize too many civilians, U.S. study says - CNN.com

Great! If I may make a suggestion: you should consider emoting, THEN think when you're all done being hysterical and are calmed down. They really don't mix and just lead to bad decision making.

Level headed, rational logic usually wins the day over emotional outbursts. Or it should, anyway.

..

Actually they did.

In 2009 Hillary and Obama were touting the lie that 90% of the guns in Mexican drug murders were from the U.S. and we need to restrict the sale of military style weapons.

... but they stopped after it was discovered that Obama was supplying the weapons

Or could it be a modified version of the bill she wrote previously that just needed a few adjustments?

Really

Ok so since I know nothing about guns or anything else about gun control, then why is it when ANYONE talks about maybe stiffening background checks, banning assault rifles and such do many people go "Oh My God the liberals are coming for all guns!" I don't want your shot gun, though it can do just as much damage, I am not taking your hand gun, though that is NOT USED FOR HUNTING last time I checked you don't go in to the forest with a 9mm to kill deer. The Founding Fathers were against a standing army, but we have one and no one is yelling about that. Everyone interprets the amendments to fit their own purposes, like the Bible, the Qur'an, the Talmud etc. Please in your infinite wisdom tell me how loose to no background checks at gun shows helps? Tell me how we give better mental health care but we are against Universal Healthcare? And don't tell me about private insurance paying for it will take care of that. It doesn't, it is nearly impossible for anyone with private insurance to get the mental healthcare they need. Explain how not enforcing existing laws and maybe putting some common sense revisions on the books is not a good idea. And yes I am outraged at the drone strikes. I am outraged at any adult who uses children to hide behind. I had relatives over there fighting during the original Desert Storm. I heard some of what happened. The sole purpose of guns was to kill other humans, the sole purpose of most weapons comes out the want to protect what is ours BUT ALSO to TAKE WHAT WE WANT! You can protect yourself without an assault rifle. And don't tell me that guns out there aren't easily modified to be fully automatic, I lived near Smith and Wesson and know they are easily modified. Let's face it, gun control, like homosexuals getting equal rights and abortion is too vitriolic a subject for most to discuss sanely. This is what everyone wants, because then we don't focus on say Global Warming, the growing gap between the wealthy and the poor, the lack of universal healthcare, the lack of a federal budget and all the other REAL problems. I will never like guns, and when my husband dies I will turn all his over to the police. Those who disagree will never understand and I will never understand your responses of "They are coming for my guns, quick stockpile the rifles and the ammo". Done. I had merely offered an OPINION, and the over the top responses is exactly the reason I left these forums years ago. Glad to see the level of intelligence hasn't changed that much.

People use handguns all the time in hunting. No offense but your limited knowledge only lends to most of our points.
