Nutrition after Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Having my wisdom teeth taken out next week. The oral surgeon gave me a list of foods, but it doesn't seem too nutritious to eat only pudding and jello for a couple of days.

Does anyone have any good suggestions that wouldn't need to be chewed or sucked through a straw, but would offer some nutrition? I am planning to try a yogurt smoothie, but I'm not sure if I can make the fruit blended enough that little pieces wouldn't get in the incisions :twitch:

Thanks!

you will be fine. I have seen people on liquid diets for days/weeks. It won't hurt you..you can make really thin mashed potatoes or cauliflower or drink an ensure or something similar. Either way, it's only a few days and it won't hurt you a bit.

Daughter just had hers out a couple weeks ago. Her first meal a couple hours after she got home was homemade mashed potatoes.

:yeahthat: It really wasn't that big of a deal to find something she could eat.

I had three of mine taken out at the same time, ask the dentist what I can't eat and do. He said not to eat anything that can get stuck into the gums or that would make it bleed. So I opted for liquid dinner that night (good ol San Miguel beer).

nobody really

I need a nap

Campbells V-8 brand makes a good broccoli soup. comes in a box in the soup isle. The Butternut squash is good, but the vegtable one is kinda chunky. i loves me some broccoli, and thats the best soup yet. And only 90 calories per serving. tasteeeee

Son just had all 4 pulled. Apple sauce, pudding, some yogurts, some soups as long as they don't have anything that can get caught in the gums. A day later thin mashed potatoes. I think he only had to do that for 72 - 96 hours. Thn started expanding his diet. After 24 hours i think he started salt water mouth rinses.

Where are you going to get your Wisdom Teeth extracted? A light diet for the first 24 hours, and like Rose said..while you are numb..don't eat anything that you have to chew, because of the risk of biting in to your cheek, lips, or tongue. The only REAL things you should NOT eat...are Nuts & Popcorn, because they don't disolve. Stay away from acidic foods like Orange Juice, or Tomato based things..because it could sting. That is only a restriction for the first 24 hours. You'll probably have Stitches, but they disolve in about a week, or less. Have Ice Packs handy, and if you don't have any..get 2 of the large bags of frozen Peas, or Corn, because they will conform to your face nicely. 5 minutes on & 10 minutes off for about 3 hours..repeat as nessisary. No heavy lifting, or exercise for about 3 days, and especially when you are taking the Pain Medication from the Doctor. If you don't have Asthma, and you are not allergic to Motrin (Ibuprophen), you can take 600 mg every 6 hours, in between the prescribed Pain Medicine, but make sure you have something on the stomach before taking any of the meds. You will be just fine!! Good luck, and thank God they don't grow back!!! :howdy:
