N.Y. Democrats Wet Themselves Over New Court-Ordered District Map

Last September, New York Democrats sought to drive the Republican Party out of existence in the state by taking the term “gerrymander” to unheard-of levels. Currently, the Democrats hold 19 congressional seats to the GOP’s 8. The map drawn by the state legislature was a parody of democracy. It would have eliminated five Republican seats and strengthened the marginal hold on several other seats by Democrats.

Fortunately, the state’s highest court put the kibosh on that hyperpartisan nonsense. “Democratic leaders in the legislature drafted the 2022 congressional redistricting map without any Republican input, and the map was adopted by the Legislature without a single Republican vote in favor of it,” the majority decision reached by five judges said.

The court ordered a new map redrawn by special master Jonathan Cervas of Carnegie Mellon University. Cervas released his map on Monday, and New York Democrats went into mourning.

Gone was their massive 23-3 majority of House seats. In addition to Democrats losing one House seat to redistricting, at least four other seats were made friendlier to Republicans and better yet, two leading Democrats will be forced to run against each other.

Eric Adams gives unvaccinated NYC workers ‘shot’ to get jobs back

Mayor Eric Adams is giving city workers who were fired for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccination another shot at getting their jobs back – provided they opt to get jabbed quickly, The Post has learned.

Internal memos delivered Friday to unvaccinated ex-employees told recipients they have an “opportunity to return to employment if [they] become fully vaccinated.” The ex-workers have until June 30 to get the first dose and make arrangements for a second dose by August 15.

“Once you provide proof of full vaccination (both doses), you will be reinstated to your civil service title at your most recent salary within two weeks of submission of proof of full vaccination, with no change to benefits or break in service,” said Marisa Caggiano, the NYPD’s assistant commissioner for human resources in a letter to fired agency workers.

Similar letters were also sent out to all ex-employees in other departments who were fired for breaking vaccination rules, except those who worked for the Department of Education. They will receive letters later this summer, sources said.

‘Hypocritical’ defund NYPD advocate moved out of Harlem for ‘safety issues’

A left-wing state lawmaker who has pushed for cutting police funding first moved to the district she is seeking to represent in Congress because “safety issues” near “the projects” in Harlem prompted her to shack up with her tech bro then-fiancé in the Financial District, The Post has learned.

Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou (D-Lower Manhattan) told a local publication in 2016 — when she was campaigning to initially get elected to her current seat — that she headed to the wealthier Manhattan neighborhood because she witnessed a pair of disturbing crimes and fell victim to one.

“I actually was robbed when I was living in Harlem. My boyfriend at the time, my fiancé, didn’t think I was safe up there, so he told me to move in, and so that’s how I moved to the Financial District with him,” she explained in an interview with the Lo-Down NY. “He was already living there.”

Frustrated NYC detectives leaving ‘insane’ NYPD, have ‘had enough’

More than 100 NYPD detectives have retired in June — and another 75 plan to put their papers in next month — as many become frustrated by revolving door justice and rules that hamstring them in the Big Apple, officials and detectives told The Post.

“That’s going to have a major impact on investigating crimes,” Detectives Endowment Association President Paul DiGiacomo said. “The detective squads are down now as we speak and are investigating more cases. It’s going to have an impact on public safety.”

So far this year 250 detectives have retired, leaving the total number at about 5,600, which is nearly 2000 less than two decades ago.

There were 794 detective retirements during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 — and that number dropped down to 395 in 2021. Sources said that 100 retirements in just one month is a large number for the NYPD.

🔥 This next story is literally unbelievable but I promise I’m not making this up. Apparently feeling empty because people aren’t as terrified of covid as they used to be, the City of New York ran a completely bonkers public service announcement yesterday on HOW TO SURVIVE A NUCLEAR ATTACK.

https://twitter.com/JackPosobiec/status/1546540995164213250?s=20&t=VDutsSGU7PoeUd3R9KWKcw
The PSA is about a minute long and offers helpful tips like, hey, get inside, close those windows, brush off all the radioactive debris, and, I’m not making this up, check for updates online. Because the internet will still be working or something.

Apart from its utter uselessness, I have a few other quibbles with the advice. What about masks?? Are you telling me that after all this, they missed the low-hanging fruit of telling people to wear their covid masks to filter out radioactive dust and stuff? Come on, New York, think!

The funniest part is how it ends. “You’ve got this!”, the chipper spokeslady promises. Nuclear bombs, meh! Give us sixty seconds and you’ll be all good when the nuclear holocaust comes.

I know it’s tempting to fret that hey, Joe Biden is stirring up all the nuclear powers against us like he’s doing it ON PURPOSE. And the Russians and Chinese appear to be massing right below our wide-open southern border, like they’re getting ready to invade after softening us up with some strategic first strikes. Can we even trust Biden to remember where he put the nuclear codes? He can’t even sit on a stationary bicycle.

But don’t take the bait! Despite all the news of wars and rumors of wars, we’re not even CLOSE to what we went through last millennium.

Here’s a pic from a 1960’s nuclear public service announcement, back when we REALLY knew how to make it through the bomb. I vaguely remember doing some of these drills in the 1970’s when I was in grade school, and watching grainy propaganda films about post-strike survival tactics. New York City is an amateur. They even forgot to tell people not to look right at the blast because it will fry your retina and then you’ll be blindly groping around the apocalypse.

According to The Washington Times, “by 1960, nearly 70 percent of American adults thought that nuclear war was imminent. By 1965, an estimated 200,000 shelters were built—but that’s just an estimate. It’s hard to know exactly, because people didn’t talk.”

We’re still far from that point.

And people have been quietly building bunkers ever since. It never stopped. The thing is, if you HAVE a bunker, you don’t want anybody else to know about it. You can’t accommodate pop-ins or guests. There’s even one company in Europe that can quietly install a nuclear bunker in your backyard in under 45 days from ordering: https://nuclearbunkercompany.com

So, PLEASE don’t fall for all this fear porn. True, we had a nice reprieve for a few decades — not from the reality of nuclear war but the constant fear porn about it. Now NYC is either trying to bring nuclear fearmongering back, for some reason, with its sixty seconds of tepid suggestions lacking any practical value, or they’re just trying to normalize the notion of imminent nuclear war again because fightin’ Joe Biden is bringing us to the brink.

Either way it’s nonsense. I should say, MORE nonsense.

Court Strikes Down “Quarantine Camp” Regulation in New York State

For anyone who missed my prior article on this horrific forced quarantine regime, the regulation truly shocks the conscience. Without exaggeration, it’s something out of a dystopian horror movie. It gives the unelected bureaucrats in the Department of Health the power to pick and choose who they want to “detain,” if they believe it’s even possible you might have a communicable disease. They don’t have to prove you’re actually sick.

And when I say “detain,” I mean lock you in your home or force you from your home into a facility. The government chooses which “detention center” and the length of your stay there is purely at the government’s discretion. That’s right: No time limit so it could be for days, months, or years.... Furthermore, there is no age restriction so that the government could force you, your child, your grandchild, or your elderly parent into detention.

This illegal quarantine regulation allowed for endless possibilities of abuse because there were no due process protections built in to safeguard against government abuse. Once targeted by the DOH, you would have no recourse whatsoever: No chance to prove that you aren’t actually infected with a disease. No chance to confront your jailers, see their supposed evidence against you or challenge their quarantine order in a court of law before getting locked up. Judge Ploetz stated in his decision that the regulation “merely gives ‘lip service’ to Constitutional due process.”

It gets worse. In the true fashion of a dictatorship, the government could tell you what you could and couldn’t do while in quarantine. For example, bureaucrats and politicians could decide to deprive you of your cell phone or internet access, thereby totally cutting off your communications with the outside world. They might also decide to restrict your food intake or force you to take certain medicines or “treatments” that the government deems appropriate. They could even choose to discriminate against those with certain views or beliefs, creating political prisoners, all in the name of supposed “health and safety”.

Judge Ploetz noted in his decision that, “nvoluntary detention is a severe deprivation of individual liberty, far more egregious than other health safety measures, such as requiring mask wearing at certain venues. Involuntary quarantine may have far-reaching consequences such as loss of income (or employment) and isolation from family.”

Some of the migrants who Mayor Eric Adams says are overloading the city’s homeless shelters have no ties to the Big Apple — but were still directed here by President Biden’s administration, The Post has learned.

Outside a city Department of Homeless Services intake center in The Bronx, Veronica Prada, 28, said Wednesday that she, her husband and their four kids left their native Venezuela on April 26 and crossed the US-Mexico border into San Antonio, Texas, on July 11.

They were greeted by Border Patrol agents who took them and other migrants to a processing facility where immigration officials gave the family information on how to apply for asylum and an Aug. 23 appointment with an immigration lawyer in The Bronx, although Prada told The Post she and her husband didn’t ask to go to New York.

A Catholic church in San Antonio gave them food, clothing and other items, and put them on a bus to another Catholic church in Washington, DC, she said.

There, the church put the family on another bus to New York and they were dropped off Sunday in Upper Manhattan.

From there, the couple and their kids — ages 2 to 8 — walked to the homeless intake center in The Bronx where they were told there were no beds available and instead got sent to a transient hotel in Brooklyn.
