NYT gets uninvited by Vanity Fair

This is middle school lunchroom stuff.

The petty: NYT wrote a piece on how the Vanity Fair Oscar party is losing its prestige; VF responded by uninviting them to the party.

The bigger picture: Maybe 1/10th of 1% of NYT readers give a crap about Vanity Fair and its parties. Or maybe they do care about this petty crap because they're all retarded. Whatever. The point is that NYT writes for a small fraction of Americans, and an infinitesimal fraction of the world. These people write for each other, not us.

It's that way with all these elite publications. The average American doesn't give a crap about their silly parties and immature feuds. They don't even know who these people are. For real, when was the last time you picked up a copy of VF? Ever?

Who does read these silly things are the wannabes. The youngsters who have a skewed impression of celebrity and see it as something desirable instead of a hive of junkies, whores, and pedophiles. They covet the $2000 shoes and the $1000 pair of jeans and it makes them angry that they have to settle for a Kylie Jenner lip kit. You see them all the time on social media, writing about celebrities as if they know them - "Here's my number if you need to talk, Khloe!" That sort of thing.

Our celebrity culture in this country is fascinating. Strangers on TV and in magazines get all this adulation, with no regard for their effed up lives, limited intelligence, and lack of substance. The guy making breakthroughs in cancer research? Meh. Don't even know his name. Too busy looking at pictures of Chrissy Tiegen's baby on Instagram.

And yet they come out in droves to rant about economics and foreign relations, with their little signs, screaming slogans, and expect the rest of us to take them seriously. The election of genuine durhards like AOC are a result of this celebrity culture: she is not a thoughtful or intelligent person; she is a celebrity. But she "slays the lewks" so her fans don't care. They are so dumb they make her look like a rocket surgeon.

It's frustrating to those of us who are serious that we are being caught up in a mob of celebrity-obsessed ignoramuses. Why do you think those chanted slogans are so short? So the bots can remember them. We've seen repeatedly that when these people are questioned individually they have no idea what they're talking about. Our colleges are putting out raving dumbshits who graduate with mountains of debt and no education to show for it.

I'm not sure how we push back against this; I think it may have gone too far to correct.
