Obama nominates gay activist for Secretary of the Army

If he's the best candidate, great. If he was nominated due to his sexual identity then Obama is showing poor leadership. Either way Obama continues to make statements with many of his nominees.

US President Barack Obama nominated Eric Fanning as Army secretary Friday in a move that if confirmed by the Senate would make him the first openly gay person to serve in that role.


Fanning has been active in gay rights and served on the board of the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund, a group that aims to increase "the number of openly LGBT officials at all levels of government."

He appears to be quite qualified, and has the confidence of SECDEF. I don't care who he is screwing as long as it isn't the Army. I wish him nothing but success.

He does seem well qualified. So are others. I believe there's an in-your-face motive just the same.
