Los Angeles police ID Shawn Laval Smith as suspected killer of Brianna Kupfer

Shawn Laval Smith, 31, should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the LAPD

Los Angeles police have identified the suspected killer of 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer, a UCLA grad student stabbed to death at her furniture store job last week.

Shawn Laval Smith, 31, should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the LAPD.

Los Angeles County Jail records show Covina police arrested him on Oct. 27, 2020, on a misdemeanor charge. He was released on $1,000 bail. The outcome of that case was not immediately clear.

A law enforcement source tells Fox News Digital that Smith has a rap sheet that spans both coasts, including in San Francisco and South Carolina. His most recent charge is allegedly for shoplifting -- and he landed up in jail in San Mateo after allegedly assaulting a police officer.

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Obama has lots of kids in US cities. Chicago, Philly, Memphis, B'more to name a few cities where his offspring keep making the news.

It's Time to Re-Institutionalize the Dangerous Mentally Ill

The scariest thing about the crimes I mentioned at the beginning of this article is that they were all unprovoked crimes against victims who had no interaction with their attackers. This random sort of violence is a hallmark of severe mental illness (SMI) in criminals. SMI is behind some of the other high-profile crimes in our society today, too. Take mass shootings, for example; the AMA Journal of Ethics reminds us that “James Holmes killed or wounded 70 people … Jared Loughner killed or wounded 19 people, and … Adam Lanza killed 28 including children as young as 6 years old.” All these shooters were “thought to have had severe mental illness at the time of their crimes.” SMI also expresses itself in the form of hate crimes, as paranoia needs a villain. People who commit hate crimes are often known to suffer from mental illness (except for white people who commit hate crimes, of course; they are always just racists).

In 2020, according to an estimate by the National Institute of Mental Health, 5.6% — 14.2 million — U.S. adults suffered from serious mental illness. And the problem is only getting worse, as 22% of U.S. adolescents were estimated to be severely impaired by mental illness. A quarter of the people who stay in homeless shelters wrestle with SMI, as do 37% of federal prisoners and 44% of jail inmates. To clarify, I’m not talking about the vast majority of mental illnesses, which are not uncommon and do not make the sufferer dangerous to others; I’m talking about the violent, untreated mentally ill who roam freely and commit violent crimes.

How did we get to this point, where we have an army of violently deranged people living on the streets and winding up in jail?

Brianna Kupfer's Councilman Mike Bonin Opposes 'Criminalizing Homelessness,' But Asked to Have a 'Trespasser' Removed From in Front of His Office

Since the recent rash of murders in Los Angeles committed by homeless people (two in five days), the issue and the response of the city and county’s elected leaders over the last many years has finally come under harsh scrutiny, and while a few of the city’s politicians are still too shell-shocked to say much, LAPD Chief Michel Moore has blamed at least one murder on a lack of mental health treatment, LA City Councilman Mike Bonin has pledged to move forward with his non-solutions to homelessness, and LA City Councilman Kevin de Leon is claiming that he’s trying to get people housed but homeless activists want to keep them on the street. (Spoiler alert: He’s absolutely lying about his own actions.)

[clip]

Bonin, who used to be “unhoused,” says his “lived experience” informs his thoughts regarding how to solve homelessness, which include issuing a directive to – or coming to an agreement with, whichever you prefer – LAPD Chief Michel Moore, instructing LAPD officers to ignore those breaking the “no camping” law on Venice Beach and creating dangerous encampments, and standing in solidarity with the hundreds of trespassers who took over Echo Lake Park for more than a year when the LAPD drove them out.

His policies made Venice Beach so dangerous and heinously polluted with human waste, trash, and used drug paraphernalia that LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva stepped in and cleaned things up during the summer of 2021. But since LA County DA Gascon will not prosecute misdemeanors or enforce loitering or trespassing citations, LAPD will not issue them, and the problem has returned with a vengeance.

Bonin and his fellow travelers wholeheartedly believe that if you are “anti-homeless” you are a “fascist” and your beliefs are “rooted in hierarchy and elitism and…advocate for authoritarianism. As reported by our Jerry Wilson, Bonin’s Chief of Staff, David Graham-Caso tweeted that Saturday evening:

Anti-homeless language resembles fascistic rhetoric because they are both rooted in hierarchy and elitism and because they both advocate for authoritarianism.
Don’t complain about being called a fascist. Stop acting like one instead.

Let me give this advice to any arresting officer that happens to come on to this killer and arrest him.
Be polite, and ask him gently to submit to arrest.
Handle him with kid gloves, do nothing to give him a bruise or any sort of wound.

This man is a potential George Floyd. We don't need more squares or statues to blacks who rob and murder white people or are addicted to Fentanyl.

This man is a potential source of riots for those who are looking for another reason to loot and burn.
Another ghetto hero who only needs the media and a good video by some a-hole to be a National hero like Floyd.
Mark my word the Police Officer who arrest this murdering POS is a potential political prisoner.
Be careful and handle with care.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Just an angel on earth he is;
"He was a good boy," said Velma Washington, who identified herself as his aunt and confirmed that the 31-year-old murder suspect had grown up "here and there" in South Carolina.

This girl's gut instincts were correct. Not only did this guy creep her out, but she felt the need to text that fact to someone else.

"She sent a text to a friend letting her know that there was someone inside the location that was giving her a bad vibe," LAPD Lt. John Radtke said of the Jan. 13 slaying

Too bad there wasn't some sort of way she could have removed herself from that situation once her instincts kicked in. I bet she thought if she did say or do anything prior to being attacked that she may have come off looking like the classic white woman Karen. I wonder how many of the other Karen incidents actually prevented a woman being harmed by being proactive and making a scene before they became a victim.
