I lather ticks in Vicks Vaporub then wait til they unlatch themselves. When you pull a tick off, you can leave bits embedded in your skin that irritate and infect the area.

The problem with that method is they basically spit out their stomach contents before they suffocate and that puts more of the parasite into your system.
