I would like to go to a restaurant were I can cut my own meat.

They have those steakhouses where you even cook your own steak...NO THANK YOU. The whole point of going out is for some one else to cook dinner for me that night.

I will say it is nice to have a different place to go for sushi.

Cooking your ouwn food is pushing it. I would really be pissed if I ended up burning the dinner then got stuck with an expensive bill for the steak. But I would like to be able to pick the actual slab of meat that they cook for me.

I'm not a big Sushi fan but I may have to check that place out for a change of pace.

I love going to Asahi, but IMO, Sakura in Waldorf is the BEST! They have bigger portions and everything just tastes better.

Sakura is the best...yummy double meat please!!

Tried it again today.. showed up 5 minutes before closing (1:55) and they sat us and prepared sushi and a meal for us..

Same as last.. the Sushi was GREAT and the sizes were very generous.. compared to Asahi were like sushi steaks. YUMMMM... Will still go back to Asahi, some things I like there, but Okads will be the more often trip.

We were there 12:15 - 1:00. It was great. Kids loved the fried rice, wife and daughter loved the yum-yum sauce. I thought the soup was less flavorful than Asahi, but still good. I'd rather have a Miso soup with some flavor to it.

If you get lunch at Asahi, it doesn't include salad. Okada includes the salad. The ginger dressing was great.

I haven't had a chance to sample the sushi yet, but for teppan-yaki, I'd rate Okada above Asahi or Sakura.

Asahi has added salads to their lunches now. I figured it might be because of the new joint.

"the salad had a different salad dressing on it, something I haven't had before, and can't really explain, but I thought it was good."

I can't believe no one touched that or maybe I missed it. Must be a Christmas thing. :lmao:

Ponytail and I went to Cheesbugers In Paradise and he ordered something that had Asian Mayo on it. We laughed and asked what it was and all the waitress could say was it was spicy and tangy. We alomost fell out of our seats. :lmao:

Hubby & I went last Thursday evening for the first time. We sat in the bar area, but not at the bar.

I sampled the appetizers:
The sashimi was fantastic (Turbo), Miso soup was very good; hibachi chicken livers were very tasty and a rare cooked sliced beef appetizer with a spicy dipping sauce (forgot the exact name), it was good & different, (but I would have preferred more spicy). The steamed white rice was fresh and just the right amount of 'sticky'.

Hubby had the filet and shrimp dinner, excellent, (but he thought the portion could have been a little bit larger).

The service was outstanding; however, the hostess who sat us was a bit of an 'airhead' which was amusing. :roflmao:

I had a couple of Miller-Lites@ $3.50 each. One lesson learned: Be prepared for sticker shock if you order a 'double' mixed drink...hubby had two 'double' vodka tonics and the total was $23.50!!!

Total for the meal: $83.00

Overall, We liked it for the sashimi and appetizers. Although they advertise as a 'sports bar & restaurant, I don't think it's a place to go for watching a game & drinking massive quantities of booze. :alkies:
