Officers Recover Loaded Handgun: On Saturday, October 22 at approximately 2:38 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a passenger car on Smallwood Drive near Copley Avenue in Waldorf. When officers detected the odor of marijuana, they asked the driver to exit the vehicle, at which time the driver notified officers that he was in possession of a gun. A subsequent search led to officers locating a loaded handgun in a bag that the driver was wearing. The driver, Cameron Cordel Chesley, 21 of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with wearing and transporting a loaded gun. On October 22, a judge released Chesley from the Charles County Detention Center on personal recognizance. Officer D. Heishman investigated.
