Oh deer!

Supper's Ready
Good shot. Guessing that was late afternoon, early dusk? Did they get up to the feeder or just take the seeds on the ground? Also, looks like they were eyeing up your flowers on the side, and about ready to leave. Nice yard, BTW.

Bird feeders attract more than birds.

I don't know what we have around here that attracts them. Most nights you can look out in the yard and there is a good chance you will see deer. The only thing in the garden this year are tomatoes. I can't tell the deer are eating them but they sure trek through the garden alot.

Been steering mine toward archery. I hunted with guns for years but once I got into piddling around with bow hunting I knew I was hooked. So I figured for the time being I would steer them to archery. Plus I live on Town Creek Drive and it's alot easier for them to get in some target practice with Archery.

Did the started bow thing for he past 2 years and I think we are about due for upgrades.

Mine has all hunting interests and is getting good with his bow. It's not good enough to hunt with but when he gets proficient with it we can upgrade. He practices shooting, BB gun and pellet gun, behind the house. He's learning. I may take him out with me a few times to see if he has the patience.

 I've been putting corn down on the stumps for about a week. I am so excited they have finally taken the bait. I love seeing the deer in my yard, but this is the closest they have come. I went down after they finished the corn at the bottom of the yard and put more out and they were right back. I want DR to build me a trough for them. Going to the feed yard tomorrow to get 100 pounds of corn. It took me less than a week to get them here. Oh, I don't want to eat them, I just love to watch them.

Thats my problem. Petience. The younger is fine. The older one can't stay still and is not really the outdoor type.

I bought them each starter bows and they are doing OK. Bought a few sheets of 2" Celotex and glued them together and glued styrofoam on the face of that. I made brackets on the side of the shed they shoot at. The deal was as long as they don't lose any arrows and can hit the target and not put holes in the shed wall I would upgrade their bows each year. Well, now that I put my foot in my mouth it's time to upgrade. I'd like to find them some small recurves before I get them into Compounds. I'll have to do some looking around to see if they have them that small. Down here at Chancellor's Run Regional Park they do have a Youth Archery Program and I thinks it's about time to put them under the direction of another adult for a bit just so they can get into the habit of interacting with others if they chose to take this on as an interest.

NO. The grandkids will be here tomorrow. They're gonna love it. I just like watching them, but now I think I'm in for big bucks on feeding them. I must note that the new neighbor has a tree stand up. This may be a problem.

Go to Southern States and get a couple of Salt Licks for cattle. They last forever and the deer lick them and they don't make a mess. Just a big block of salt they love to lick on.

I would not do anything to scare them off from around the house. Too cool having them around to do that.

For your neighbor and the tree stand. Well Good luck with that. You could always put some deer repellant down around it and he'll move it eventually when the deer don't come around anymore.
