People try to claim on here that I am a democrat. Well, maybe they are right since I was such a huge advocate of Ehrlich (and voted for him) and it looks like he is actually a democrat?

"A spokesman for Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. acknowledged yesterday that increases in property and corporate taxes are being considered to close Maryland's $1.8 billion budget deficit."

Bush thinks tax cuts will help even the national budget, maryland thinks throwing more money at it will help. We'll see which one is right.

ok ok, hold a sec... Let me read the minds of the forum posters..
"If the dems hadn't put us there in the first place it wouldn't be a problem now!"

You are correct!

But Bush was handed a pretty nice situation when he took office at that didn't help either.

I think you need to visit Bluto's therapist! Way to much pent up frustration.

There are better ways to reduce frustration but I can't discuss them here.

Really? What did your retirement and stocks look like in 2000? Mine were awful. Seems to me he got handed a lousy economy, a burst in the dot coms (because the stocks were inflated), a terrorist attack that cost us millions, and a set of corporate scandals - all in the first 8-10 months. Since then, he's managed pretty well, in my opinion. We're technically out of recession - jobs tend to be a lagging factor, and consumer confidence needs work. We think it's 'bad', but there are industrialized nations that would love to be as bad as we are when they're doing good.

Now I'm no economic genius, but I'm pretty sure that to correct a flagging economy - you don't *raise* taxes to make up for loss of revenue. There'll be more deficits, as there always are following an economic downturn. This was invevitable.
