Penn ... :killingme

being from SE Pennsylvania, I HAD to root for the Eagles during that game (like I wouldn't even if I didn't live there)

But I was most joyous to see my 'boys win over the Cardinals!

 This is the part I cannot fathom: The Cowboys have beaten their NFC East rivals - the Giants and the Redskins.......in the first 5 weeks already??

Plus, they are boasting the highest rated offense in the NFC East!

How can this be?? It's only their first year under the 'Tuna!

Does the man have magic on his side?

 More of otter's pigeon english....no matter.

But you know, not only did the Redskins fail to beat the Eagles, Philly couldn't beat the spread, (5 &1/2 points)due to some last minute chicanery by the sorry 'skins, so nobody was able to win any money betting yesterday.
 But the kicker was the failed attempt on a two-point conversion on the last play of the game: the Redskins receiver was wide open in the right side of the endzone, but Ramsey overthrew him!

Oh, the misery of it all!!

Say, I forget: how many penalties did Washington accrue during yesterdays' game?

I heard at least 6 illegal motion calls were flagged against them.

A little jumpy, eh?

Obsessing over the Redskins problems still doesn't create a win this week for your team. Now, be a good boy and stop irritating me.

:smooch: Ah, you're right Catt, I've had my fun with this
:deadhorse. Time to move on.
If I want to get some jollys, I can always watch the Monday night recriminations show on Chan 4(I think) where Sonny J. and friends get to pick apart the game, shake their heads a lot and go "tsk, tsk, tsk, we shoulda won that one."

Has anybody gone to the Renaissance Festival yet?

I heard Cari, talking about it a few weeks back, but no replies how it is this year.

I'm probably going this Sunday in the early afternoon, with a friend. It'd be nice to see some friendly faces, even otter's!

Picking up...

...on my anti Yankees theme...

I have to admit that the way Snyder is running the Redskins SHOULD fail for the best interests of the league.

A couple of articles in the post today point out the mindset of the Skins; 'hey, we played hard and lost but we're millionaires so, let's not get too upset here'

This contrasts with the quoted mindset of the undermanned Eagles on the last play of the game: They were scared and motivated: Somebody HAD to make a play.

And they did, preassuring Ramsey into an incompletion that would have and should have tied the game.

I don't fault Ramsey, he plays his guts out and he is GOING to make some mistakes like he did yesterday. The whole team plays hard.

What I fault is the absolute pile of penalties that slowly bleed this team to death each week.

They beat three undermanned teams, the Jets, Falcons and Pats and lost to a fourth hurting team, the Eagles. They lost to the one intact team they played...by a few points while commiting 17 penalties.

Take away all the personal fouls, false starts, holds and off sides and this team is 5-0, easily and a favorite for the Super Bowl. They are that good talent wise but they are just not a 'team'. They are a collection of hired guns who have not had the time to be playing for each other in the way the Eagles and Giants and Bucs and Titans and Ravens and Raiders and Pats are.

Let's face it, nobody in this league is facing homelessness if they make a few mistakes at the wrong time. The ONLY motivation to win for these guys is each other and that takes time. The extra effort, the extra concentration that makes the difference in a league filled with team that have a chance to win it all.

Baseball is where Snyder belongs, buy up every great player you can and keep 'em. Over 162 games year after year nobody has to care a bit about anyone else, you just do your job; throw it, catch it, hit it, run. Everything action in baseball is pretty much one player at a time. You don't even need the other 7 guys if you can throw 9 straight strikes.

Football is a complex battlefield where 22 guys are all flying around at once and any one of them can make the difference on every play.

What happened to the Jets (by Snyder) just simply shouldn't work or the NFL becomes baseball.

MrSnyder...

...or may I call you Dan?

I do not question your motives. I believe you are as much a fan as I! I would love to be in your shoes! The thing is, you are running the team like a business where caring and hard work with a good idea, like you business' (and mine I'd like to think)
yield positive results. But the money that flows from that effort is not like getting wins and Super Bowls to flow.

Witness the financial success of the team: You're doing a great job with what you know. Things aren't working out so well on the other part, the football 'thing'.

#1 NEVER EVER give a job to someone who doesn't want it, IE Steve Spurrier. He's not here because it's what he wanted to do. he's here because you challenged him...and pay him $5 mil per. Sherm Lewis was the same thing, he didn't want to be here, you made him an offer he couldn't refuse until he got what he really wanted, a head job. Lost time, spinning wheels.

Need I say ANYTHING about hiring someone who said they'd NEVER work for you? Marty?

#2 Never EVER sign ex-Cowboys. I actually accepted Neon...but it made me feel...dirty. It degrades and insults one of the main reasons for being a Skins fan; loathing Cowboys.

There's someone out there, an unknown up and comer like Joe Gibbs or Herm Edwards or John Gruden (or Dan Snyder) who WANT the job and are of the culture, the NFL culture. They are NOT coaching college or sitting in a booth.

You need two people, the coach and the GM. They are young, they are hungry and they want it as bad as you. You know you're part, the business end, they know their part, talent and coaching.

Hell, a Herm Edwards who had the pockets to hold his team together, need I say more?

Anyway, no more freebies.

This could still all work and you'll be proven out in the end.

FLAG! Unrealistic optimism! That'll be 5 years! Start over!

I am Mr Snyder to you, only Sonny may call me Dan.

As long as the money is flowing, and the pawns that I hire call me Mr Snyder, I don’t care.

Witness the financial success of the team: You're doing a great job with what you know. Things aren't working out so well on the other part, the football 'thing'.

Isn’t it all about the money first?? If and when I’ve raped all the season ticket holders and gone thru the 20,000 person waiting list for tickets will I worry about the football thing. I gotta fleece em while I can.

Its all about name recognition, hire the big names, the hell with Sherm, I went for Shari first. If I could sign Kornheiser and Wilbon, I would play them. I know business, people want to see BIG names. Spurrier was the big kahuna that everyone said I couldn’t get, but I did.

Need I say ANYTHING about hiring someone who said they'd NEVER work for you? Marty?

Marty needed a smackdown, it was worth it to pay him so I could fire him.

#2 Never EVER sign ex-Cowboys. I actually accepted Neon...but it made me feel...dirty. It degrades and insults one of the main reasons for being a Skins fan; loathing Cowboys.

I’m not done with that guy yet, after next season I plan to give him the reins of my team so I can fire that thief, too.

There's someone out there, an unknown up and comer like Joe Gibbs or Herm Edwards or John Gruden (or Dan Snyder) who WANT the job and are of the culture, the NFL culture. They are NOT coaching college or sitting in a booth.

Gruden will come after that Neon guy, I have it all worked out. I will be hailed as the greatest owner ever when I pick the Buccs pockets and steal him. Its all smoke and mirrors.

You need two people, the coach and the GM. They are young, they are hungry and they want it as bad as you. You know you're part, the business end, they know their part, talent and coaching.
I have a GM, my good buddy Vinny, he knows its all about the money to be made first.

Thank you for your interest, I noticed you were in the top 50 of the waiting list for tickets, you are now number 15,404 due to the fact that you asked to call me Dan. I AM MR SNYDER and the Redskins are my cash cow!!
