Celebrating Earth Day showcases middle age people donning European style bicycle racing shirts blocking traffic in Owings, Huntingtown, Route 4 and the beachs with their Schwinn 3 speed bikes!!! Horrrray!!!!!

Next month, I'm planning a rickshaw trot, 5 year old kids tugging a Radio Flyer wagon and some senior citizens with walkers following the same routes!!!

This is an every weekend occurrence in the Beaches area. The worst spot is between North Beach and Rose Haven (a close second is Mt. Harmony Road) where there's barely enough room for two cars to pass let alone a passle of "bikers".

How no one has been killed yet over the years remains a source of amazement for me.

I confess - I like Earth Day. I think it should be a federal holiday. And Pi Day. And Talk Like a Pirate Day. I also like World Contact Day - one year we're going to call occupants of interplanetary craft and they're going to answer, watch and see.

If we want to have more holidays, we must cancel existing ones on a one-one-to-one basis. Let's say MLK Jr. and Juneteenth as starters.

See, and I love Juneteenth - it's a tribute to how awesome Republicans are that they fought and died to end slavery in our country. It should be a much bigger deal, with a televised festival on the Mall or at least something spectacular. Democrat slave masters (aka "the losers") aren't invited, or maybe we'd invite them and whip them in the public square, sell them at auctions, rape their wives.....something to commemorate their history.

Juneteenth
Being the day that slavery ended in the last of the CSA states, Texas.
Slavery in the US did not end until the 13th Amendment was ratified in December 1865.
Kentucky, Delaware, and to some extent New Jersey, were the last slave states.
