Everyone stay calm. Old Bay is releasing a new a product infused with its signature flavor: hot sauce.

In an announcement Tuesday, Old Bay, owned by Hunt Valley-based McCormick & Co. said the new hot sauce is “tangy with a kick of heat, and that distinctive Chesapeake flavor."

The company said sales will launch on their website Wednesday but have not yet disclosed a time.

The website is out of stock.

Here’s some good news: Beloved seasoning salt Old Bay has created a limited edition hot sauce, featuring its famous flavor profile, for the first time in the brand’s 81-year history.

Here’s some bad news: The hot sauce, which was released Wednesday morning, has already sold out.

The transformation of Old Bay from spice blend to sauce was announced only Tuesday, but all three available products — a 3-pack of 12-ounce bottles ($12.99), 3-pack of 5-ounce bottles ($9.99) and a 64-ounce jug ($11.29) — sold out in less than an hour online, according to a representative for Old Bay’s parent company McCormick.

Eventually fans crashed the website. Disappointed, would-be customers tweeted about the site malfunctioning or dead-ending at “502 Bad Gateway” pages, leaving them without sauce. The McCormick rep wrote in an email that Old Bay was expecting a strong response based on social media, but not this big: “From what I understand, people kept refreshing the page and were ready when the product went on sale,” she wrote.
