Mrs. Santa in Drag at Thanksgiving Parade

"to the delight of millions of little children, the Santa in New York's great parade will be half of a same-sex couple."

Anyone else find this disconcerting?

This has nothing to do with homosexuality, and everything to do with Fierstein's pathetic need for affirmation and attention. Jon Lovitz captured that perfectly with his Fierstein impersonation on SNL--"All I want is to be loved, is that so wrong?!"

Did anybody actually see this guy in the parade? I wasn't going to watch it but my kid found out that there was a Pokemon balloon and wanted to see it.

Anyway, Fierstein looked like his character from "Hairspray" dressed like the female lead in the movie "White Christmas" A red velveteen dress with white trim. The announcer made it clear that this was "Edna" (the character) in a "special Holiday dress." When Santa came down the street, they made sure to have plenty of shots of the "Mrs. Claus" that normally rides on one side of the float.
