Once Again, Bernie Sanders Struggles with the Concept of a Majority

The “American people” have “expressed” no such thing. Per NPR:

Democrats have staked their political future on enacting President Biden’s plans for trillions in social spending, but a new NPR/Marist poll shows that most voters are skeptical of the party’s proposals.
Just 41% of the survey’s respondents said they support the Build Back Better bill, the roughly $2 trillion bill currently being negotiated in Congress. Nearly three-quarters of all Democrats said the support the bill but only 36% of independents and 13% of Republicans agreed.

Moreover:1

The survey respondents were less optimistic about the in-process Build Back Better legislation. Just 42% said they thought it would help people like them.

This is not “support.” And it is certainly not “overwhelming support.”

Bernie seems to have a real problem grasping concepts such as “support” and “majorities.” As the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake has pointed out, Bernie frequently argues that Senators Sinema and Manchin “shouldn’t be able to thwart what 48 of 50 Democratic and independent senators support,” as if the only majorities that matter in the Senate are those within the Democrats’ caucus. But they’re not. Indeed, as Blake notes,

it’s not just two senators standing in the way, but in fact 52 — a majority that includes those two Democrats and all 50 Republicans. Bills passed via reconciliation require a majority (in this case, 50 votes plus a tiebreaker from Vice President Harris), and a majority of the Senate does not presently support this one.

The left treads the path of authoritarianism very easily - because they believe it is ok to FORCE their views on an unwilling population if they think it's right. (Moreover - their rhetoric is typical of such thinking in that they believe OTHERS think the same way).

This doesn't work. You know, Lincoln was criticized for saying his job was to save the Union, not end slavery. He was right - and he could NOT end slavery if the nation as a whole was NOT opposed to it. People have assailed him saying he was not against slavery, then, but all you have to do is read anything about his life to know, he was ALL ABOUT ENDING slavery. It was his reason for rising up in the morning. You just can't END something like it, however, until people are on board with it. The nation leaned through Prohibition, that if the people don't want to end something, making laws they're opposed to will NOT result in compliance.

It is all too common for the left to believe, if their cause is right, what the people want be damned. And that is exactly what authoritarianism IS.

Bernie and the Democrats are not worried about what is right. They couldn't care is what is right.
They are in it for the money. They are not so stupid as to really believe the costs for these Bills will not be paid by the Middle Class.
They know damned well it isn't free money. They don't give a damn about the burden they will place on the American taxpayer.
If they stopped passing out money to illegals, and people who don't work they would have plenty of money for infrastructure.

Bernie never worked a day in his Communist life.

To paraphrase Henry James, he thinks he works hard because he thinks hard about working.

If they want to talk about this bill they need to talk about all of it not just the reduce the costs of medicine part. People do want that. They don't want the 90% of the progressive add ons that mean nothing to them.

To be fair to Bernie - because we know how much he loves fairness when it doesn't involve him having to give up his millions - they all do that. "Most Americans want what I'm selling!" And you know Bernie doesn't peddle that junk for free, he's getting paid to push the agenda and his bot fan club will glom right on.

What's fun is that the Twittertards will post back to these tweets like it's really Bernie or whoever posting them, and not some staffer.

What they USUALLY say is "America wants this..." etc. without any regard to how many want it. Or the American people expect and so on. They make it about the people of the country without anything so annoying as actual facts or data.

What we have here is a failure to communicate. Most people think of money as one thing, generally it's payment for doing something. On the other hand pols think of it as something completely different, markers on a big board counting favors owed or paid and sometimes it's a roadblock to an enemies progress.

Lincoln was wrong on both counts here, his job was to uphold the laws of the nation. At the time both of these things were legal, slavery and leaving the union.

Bernie Sanders says Manchin and Sinema have 'sabotaged' Biden's agenda: 'Two people who prevented us from doing it'

Sen. Bernie Sanders unloaded Sunday on Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, calling out the pair of centrist Democrats by name and arguing that they have "sabotaged" President Joe Biden's agenda.

"You got two members of the Senate, Sen. Manchin and Sen. Sinema, who have sabotaged what the president has been fighting for," Sanders told NBC's Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press."

Todd responded that "sabotage" was a "strong word" to use, but Sanders doubled down on his criticism of his Democratic colleagues. Sanders, a Vermont independent who caucuses with Senate Democrats, also serves on Senate Democratic leadership with Manchin.

"You got 48 members of the Senate who wanted to go forward with an agenda that helped working families, that was prepared to take on the wealthy and the powerful," Sanders said. "You got a president who wanted to do that. You had two people who prevented us from doing it."

Sabotaging the Agenda of an aging sick mentally ill old corrupt politician is a good thing.

If the people of Vermont had anything but sht for brains they would sabotage the Agenda of the rich old Communist, who wants to help the rich corrupt old senile crook in the White House ,and support a decent candidate for Senator

Ex-Bernie Sanders Campaign Consultant Convicted After Smuggling Weapons Into Prison

A prison reform advocate and Left-wing activist was convicted this week for vandalism after he snuck weapons, including guns, into a Tennessee prison during construction.

A jury found Alex Friedmann guilty of over a quarter of a million dollars in vandalism to a Nashville jail after he was found to have placed guns, handcuff keys, and hacksaw blades in walls under construction. Friedmann had disguised himself as a construction worker.

There is speculation about what the purpose for the weapons were and what the prison reform activist planned to do with them. During their investigation, law enforcement officers looked at thousands of hours of surveillance videos.
