The southbound lane of the Thomas Johnson Bridge across the Patuxent River at Solomons will close tonight for repairs, the State Highway Administration said Friday.
The partial closing of the link between Calvert and St. Mary's counties will begin at 9 p.m. today and last until 5 a.m. tomorrow.
Traffic will continue at all times, officials said, with northbound and southbound vehicles taking turns on the one open lane.
Workers will be repairing a loosened expansion joint on the Town Creek portion of the bridge. On Thursday, the damaged joint was causing flat tires on some vehicles crossing it.
Any motorists whose tires were punctured while driving across the bridge Thursday may call the Insurance Claims Division of the State Treasurer's Office at 410-260-7684 or toll-free at 800-942-0162.
