Not sure invoking mother nature is fair when she never provided us a way to travel around the world in less than 1 day. Several hundred years ago this would have never made it out of china.

Please tell me I don't need to remind you about the settling of this country and the buggies white people brought over to the native population.

Humans have always traveled and migrated, literally since Adam and Eve.

Look at what we did to Africa. They were starving because their land can't feed them, so we buttinskies jumped in to "save" them.

There's other stuff involved. In Ethiopia, it was specifically because the communist government was helping them starve. That whole LiveAid thing? Their own government was killing them.

In the 60's, a portion of Nigeria broke off and called themselves "Biafra". I remember. I remember praying for the starving children of Biafra and saving our allowances so we could send money. But it is Nigeria that was blockading them - a siege, as it were.

Consider - nations like England feeds itself - but only because it produces goods and services to exchange for food. The land isn't any better than it was hundreds of years ago, but its economy and distribution system is better.

When I was in Ethiopia I was astonished to learn at least one other thing - they're a landlocked nation (since the independence of Eritrea) but they have nothing resembling railroads or major highways for distributing goods. To my knowledge, the whole country has ONE airport. OUR big cities thrive because we can ship freight in and out with ease - in their country, small cities depend on trucks shipping with orders from locals and local businesses and they all go to the capital - no other city has the ability to do that.

So - it's structural as well. Nations which were starving once aren't starving anymore, and the land didn't change. What they did to GET and distribute food has.

No doubt. The less interaction you have with your fellow humans, the less likely they are to kill you.

40,000 people +- are killed in traffic accidents every year in the US. If everyone stayed home, we could reduce that number to 0.

Right?
Right. I'm not arguing with your statistics. In fact your math works both ways. If everyone took the stance that statistically it won't be them and didn't take any of the extra precautions the statistics of those with the virus would be changing exponentially daily. It's simple math. Especially when you factor in the contamination rate of this new virus vs. the flu viruses.

The news peeps keep showing vid of Manhattan, with its empty streets, and I'm like, "Damn, now would be a great time to visit NYC!"
But look at rt. 5 @0630 then again @1500 or so. Traffic is reduced but far from what you see when people show pics of NYC, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh.

If anything the Corona Virus panic has produced a positive outcome.... It reduced the death rate in Chicago!

... It marched through the streets, the sewers. It left the city by oxcart, by sea, to kill half of Europe. The rats, rustling and squealing in the night as they, too, died. The rats...

Nope. Not coronavirus.

They don't check the contamination rate of seasonal flu, and they really haven't done the contamination rate of this virus. I haven't been tested, have you?

FACT: asymptomatic people have tested positive for cvirus, according to our news people and CDC spokestards.

You have to ask yourself, why did they go in and get tested if they had no symptoms?

FACT: only a small percentage of the people testing positive have gotten sick.

Another FACT: only a small percentage of the people who've gotten sick in any form have died.

You may have the virus right now and not even know it. And would knowing it make you any more or less ill?

China has been an exporter of these things for a long time.

"The Great Plague, lasting from 1665 to 1666, was the last major epidemic of the bubonic plague to occur in England. It happened within the centuries-long time period of the Second Pandemic, an extended period of intermittent bubonic plague epidemics which originated in China in 1331, the first year of the Black Death, "

I’m still trying to figure out how asymptomatic managed to get a test if they were so “scarce”? The entire NBA? Actors? Maybe some attention whores will get their hands on a pallet or two of those awesome ChiCom test kits and get some false positives then parlay that into another “Imagine” moment or a resurrection of “We are the world”.

I have no basis for comparison with New Braunfels, but the store traffic in Buc-ees is lighter than other Buc-ees we've been to. Which doesn't mean anything because maybe it's just not a very popular Buc-ees. Also traffic is going to be lighter because....where you gonna go? Everything is shut down.

No doubt many people are staying home, bathing in hand sanitizer. The media has freaked them out and the sheeple largely do as they're told. Which is fine - it's a free country, isolate if you want to.

My beef is SOLELY in having our iron fisted government declare martial law and confine us to our homes under penalty of jail time. In closing down businesses and destroying people's livelihoods, in hemorrhaging our tax dollars at special interests and political cronies....over this virus that affects statistically no one.

We should be outraged by this, and yet we are largely accepting.

We should be going, "Mother****er, you can't do that," and instead we are cowering before our masters and crying for them to help us.

This is how Socialist countries are born and freedom is destroyed. Just like this.

I know you read about the guy in Hughesville that got arrested for having a party the other night.

It has been my observation a large number of symptomatic people who are sick and even 'very' sick but still able to get some air in their lungs are being sent home to sit it out without being tested.... and yes, I know some. Thus, I am not panicking, nor am I locking myself in a bubble, but I am taking precautions beyond what I normally take during a typical flu season. I am also considering myself possibly exposed whenever I leave and then return to my home. I am not crazed, but I am self-aware.

I'm wondering that as well.

I have asked that question numerous times and been ignored. None of our stupid "reporters" seem interested in this question, either.
