Auditions for St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s final show of the 2011-2012 theater season, “The Big Picture App?,” will be held Wednesday, January 18, from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Bruce Davis Theater, Montgomery Hall Fine Arts Center, on the campus. Callbacks will be Friday, January 20, from 3-5 p.m. Performance dates are March 29-April 1 and April 5-7.
“The Big Picture App?” is an original, collaborative performance project between St. Mary’s professor of theater and dance, Merideth Taylor, and an ensemble of writers-performers that will explore a range of topical issues and themes. The initial phase of this project began in the fall of 2011 when a group of students from Taylor’s semester-long course on the art of happenings examined experimental performance forms from the 1960s to the flash mobs of today through movement improvisation, theater games, creative writing, dance, and mask work. Auditions are being held for additional performers who will help create new material and shape the final piece.
No experience is required to audition, although dance, acting, and/or musical ability are a plus. For your audition, prepare a short monologue or poem, and come to the theater dressed for movement improvisation. For further information, contact the director at mmtaylor(at)smcm.edu.
