I am running the 2013 Merrell Down and Dirty run on 21 July. They are partnered with Operation Gratitude. Operation Gratitude annually sends 100,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions, to their children left behind and to Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors and their Care Givers. Their mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people. Each package contains donated product valued at $75-100 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. OperationGratitude - OperationGratitude
While it is not required to raise money to run (there is a seperate registration fee), I am raising money as part of my run because I do whatever I can to help support those to protect our freedoms. I already participate with Soldiers' Angels, sending a package of home baked goodies and a letter each month to a deployed servicemember. I am excited to be involved with Operation Gratitude because the also support the families, veterans, first responders, wounded warriors and their care givers.
Because money is tight with all of the budget cuts and the impeding furlough, I'm posting my fundraising site in the forum in hope that many people can donate a few dollars and I can reach my $500 fundraising goal. If you are interested in donating, please go to my fundraising page: Active.com Donations
Thank you in advance for you generosity.
