Boy is invited to New Years Eve party.

I'm fine with where its at and who is going to be there.

I tell him that he can go as long as he has a ride home - I'm not going out at 1am on amateur drinking night - dragging along the girl - to drive 30 minutes and get him.

Now I am ruining his social life.

I'm not budging on this - if he's old enough to make social plans he can complete them.

Would you have set the same rules?

I think I'd trust myself to drive him home before I trusted someone else. But that's just me.

Well, at least I am not alone in ruining some teenagers social life tonight. :drama:

I also have a son going to a party and I am also okay with where the party is being held. But, like you, I am ALSO not going out to pick him up at 1 a.m. so the agreement was he can go to the party but he will be picked up between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. by ME or not go at all. He decided to go!

I'm home with bronchial flu and fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I'm not a safe driver right now, but I could have gotten him a safe ride to the party.

No, too bad, I could have given him a ride home. He is at J's house in Helen.
Yeah that's what I was thinking. Oh well. He's having quite the fit right now. His cell just overloaded on messages. The 10:30 idea resulting in one of his most hilarious faces yet.

He got a ride!! With a trustworthy driver! He's just being dropped at alternate parents place, not so far away for them.

My daughter went to Annapolis with a friend & friends parents. I said "no" but hubby said yes. I was worried about the ride home.
