Bought a new ride today. Dealer offered a teflon coating and interior guard for an additional $700. I think the teflon was around $500. Said it protects against acid rain, hard water spots and you never have to wax the vehicle. Warranted for 7 years then you can extend the warranty as long as you like.

Duponster said he saw in on a showroom car at Bell's and it really looked good.

When I wash my car, I always dry it so no issue with water spots. Waxing a few times a year is no hassle either.

Does anyone have this on their cars? If so, what do you think?

Since you were just asking about a detailing place, seeing you got a new car made me remember the old joke they used to have about my dad: whenever his ashtray got full he'd buy a new car instead of cleaning the old one.

Baja, good luck on the new purchase. Hope the Camry works out well for you. We have always had good luck with Toy's, put 320,000 miles on my first Toyota 4x4 PU. Currently my wife drives a RAV4, sonster drives a used Corolla with 100,000 miles plus on it and i am driving a Tacoma 2 wd pu. Knock on wood so far have had good luck with all of them.
Congrats on your new car.

I figured so. I also skipped the extended warranty.

Not sure about the teflon coating but I've used the hell out of my extended warranty on my Explorer and on a Jeep I used to have. It's nice paying them a $100 deductible instead of their astronomical prices for repairs. Enjoy the new ride!

Good point on the extended warranty, but he bought a Toyota, not a Ford or Chrysler...

Paint protection, undercoating are HUGE moneymakers for dealers and with todays cars a total waste of money for consumers... When was the last time you saw a rusted out car? And with clear coat paint why would you even wax?

Be a waste of money even on a Chrysler/Fiat.

Dealer applied products are snake oil. Warranty is prorated, and not through the dealership.

Thanks. I had a 2007 Camry LE and it is still going strong with 130,000+ on it.

Ford, Chrysler & GM need to take notes on quality from Toyota.

My other Camry has 130,000+ and has never needed a thing other than regular maintenance (oil, brakes, air filters and a battery) everything I did myself.

My Charger has almost 150K. Has needed tie rods and ball joints, which I did myself, mainly due to 20 inch tall 9 inch wide wheels, but other than that, it's been smooth sailing. Oil and brakes also, of course.

Been checking out their SUVs, nice looking vehicles. I'll probably trade in my Explorer for a Toyota next year.
