Does anyone recommend one ortho over another? I have made an appointment with Dr Kuhn, Dr Kotterwas, and Dr Doummit.

What about Dr. Kaplan? Is that old dinosaur still practicing? I liked him. He took a while moving my teeth, but he wanted to do things the right way and not rush it. All of the ladies that worked in his office were really nice...but one of them was not very gentle.

My daughter went to Dr. Kuhn and was in braces for 3 years because his appts are every 6-8 weeks. My son now goes to Dr. Doumit and will have his braces off after 18 months because his appts are every 4 weeks.

Both are great dr.'s it just depends on how long you want your child to wear braces.

I am seeing Dr. Doumit. So far I have no complaints about him or his staff. I acutally go to see him this Thrusday to get my trays.

Both my boys went to Kaplan, in Clinton, with one getting out of braces and the other going into braces, I must have made trips to Clinton for 5 plus years.
Doc must be retired now, of the office girls Cindy was the nicest, she grew up in Old Hillcrest around the corner from me.

Dr. Seidel in Dunkirk, is awesome. He did a wonderful job on my teeth! He is a very nice guy.. I recommend him 100% if your insurance allows him

How long you have your braces does not really depend on how close together appts. are. It depends on the problems to be corrected. My daughter has been going through orthodontics for years (about 6 years now) because she had/has serious overcrowding issues (teeth coming in completely sideways, teeth coming in above others, some teeth unable to come in, baby teeth couldn't come out because they were too tightly packed in, etc.). Her appts. have been 4 weeks apart, sometimes 6 weeks apart, and no changes were made, because her teeth weren't ready and then we had to go back 2-4 weeks later before they made any changes. She's had expanders, then braces, then a retainer, 4 teeth pulled, then the second set of braces, then when these braces come off this November, she has a retainer for another year and then she's done! It is absolutely amazing the change that has happened. Her teeth are so straight and beautiful now.

It makes a difference

It really does make a difference. Had my daughter gone more often her teeth would have moved faster. I am not saying one is better than the other just pointing out the facts.

No matter both are great dr.'s

Fast is not always better. My orthodontist really hates to make fast changes, because it's not good for the mouth. He also does not like to put braces on children younger than a certain age because he wants to let their mouth grow as much as possible. He said that if they're too young when the braces come off, the teeth want to move back.

You are right, fast is not always better. But my daughter had hers for 3 years and if she doesn't wear her retainers her teeth will shift. The teeth will shift no matter what if they don't wear the retainers.

My sister and I didn't have any problems.
I did, along with everyone in my family who got stuck going to him because he was the only Orthodontist in St. Mary's.
