Yes..was just rounding the turn there when it suddenly took off. Was headed up to Abell's diner for a breakfast sammich.
How so?
It's actually not a race car. It's a fully licensed and insured street vehicle intended to look like a race car. He's owned it for many years and was driving the speed limit, headed to the diner for breakfast, when the throttle suddenly pegged itself as he was entering that turn. Guy that was in the building on the corner there actually heard the whole thing and said it sounded like the engine just suddenly went crazy.
My sons both got rides in it about 10 years ago when he first got it. They were thrilled, of course.
Be interesting to see if we can figure out what happened. He said it was like all of a sudden he side-slipped the clutch and nailed the gas...it was gone in a flash. Shame...it was a beautifully built car.
We'll see soon enough. It's been trouble free for almost 10 years... My oldest son just sent me a video of him riding in it back when it was first built. He was about 15 at the time..I would tend to go with, if it truly stuck wide open it still should be...
