Our cat needs an outside home-please help

So we have a 5yr. old neutered male cat named Timmay. When we adopted him a few yrs. ago he was already declawed in the front. For the past few years he has had a condition called "mega colon." Overall he is well maintained through feeding low bulk canned food and miralax. Every few weeks he has bouts of constipation and vomiting, and frequently drops loose stool on the carpet. We have gotten to the point where we can not tolerate the tolerate the mess in our apartment, no can we afford surgery. We can not let him outside since our apartment complex would call the animal shelter, or he would be hit on the highway right beside us. If anyone has a safe home where he could live outside, or know of a no-kill rescue that can find him a good home I would appreciate it.

I think it is good of you to post here to try and find your kitty a home, rather than just turning him loose to fend for himself. I hope someone responds to you and can help. I cannot take one more cat- I know my limit and don't want to become a hoarder.

It is not fair to make a sick cat live outside. If he were to get totally obstructed and unable to pass stool and was outside, hiding because he felt ill, he would die a horrible death. It would be kinder to just have him euthanized. It would also be unfair to expect a declawed cat to live outside. It would be hard for him to defend himself or escape from danger.

You have given him a good life and I admire you for adopting him in the first place.
I hope you find a good home for him.

I agree, if no one steps up to adopt, then the right thing to do would be to euthanize him. He will not survive outside and it would be cruel to the cat.
