Out of towners visiting - where should we go?

We have friends coming in tonight from out of town, and they have a one year old (we don't have any kids). We were planning on doing some outdoor activities (apple orchard/corn maze, Taste of St. Mary's), but with the rain, I don't know if we'll be able to. Any suggestions for places we should go for a few hours that are toddler-friendly? We'd like to keep it in Southern MD since they've already done the DC thing. Thanks!

You should take the toddler to Kiddos (index) and tire them out, then take your friends on a scenic tour of St. Mary's while baby sleeps in the carseat. St George Island is the big hit, as is Point Lookout. Or you can drive up to Chaptico and get them a stuffed ham sandwich for lunch, then visit St. Clements Island.

That place looks awesome - thanks! I had no idea that was available.

We haven't been in St. Mary's that long - where should we grab lunch in Chaptico?

I would go to Chaptico Market - IMO, they have the best lunch counter in SoMD. Rt 5, through Leonardtown, veer to the left to get onto 234, then left at 238.

Someone will correct me if that's not right - I know how to get there, it's just telling someone else that goofs me up.

They do have a good lunch counter/deli but there is no place to sit and eat...It is a grocery type store....Just FYI..

It's 5 O'clock somewhere!
Try the Calvert Marine Museum. Not expensive and very interesting. (And indoors!)

:yeahthat:

I did this with some friends and their two kids on a rainy day back in April.
Kids loved it...and so did their parents ;-)

Alot of the other possibilities depend on the weather. Naval Air Museum
at PaxRiver is cool too:patriot:

Parking lot at the air museum is probably kinda messy right now.
St. Marys City is interesting. Don't want to do that if it's raining too hard though. The view from Point Lookout would be better on a sunny day, but still neat to be there. Check out the Civil War monument on the way down there.

Check out - One stop Family Adventure Center in Leonardtown
301-997-0030 Moon bounce and inside go-carts. Area for the little
ones too!

Vrai knows that. She just prefers Jackie's food to Gilbert's.

Oh, I see now that she did mention St Clements Island....I was just so shocked to see a plug for Jackie....I heard that they are going to put a statue of him in the center of the new round-about....:lmao:
