outdoor ideas needed

How you like me now?
Hey,

I am visiting my brother and wanted to cheer him up. His yard is really in need of some sprucing up but I have no clue what to do in the fall/winter

He has a driveway that I would like some ideas for and a small yard with one big tree in it.

Any ideas that would be fairly inexpensive and easy to do?

Oh! load his yard down with artificial flowers plugged everywhere! That way he'll have continuous color and beauty to brighten his day... until the fun fades them to a washed out plastic look... but that won't be for a while...

For the early spring: plant forsythia - it survives almost anywhere and has gorgeous yellow flowers in early spring.

For late summer, plant crepe myrtle - it grows almost like mini-bush/trees and has nice flowers when most other plants have stopped making their pretty-pretties.

Ground-cover: maybe periwinkle, with small purple flowers; maybe just do bulbs for mid- to late-spring bloomings [crocus-daffodils-tulips-daylillies-].

What else? Umm, fresh out of ideas.

Hope this helps,
Dot
