Outer Banks Ferry

Anyone know if there is a ferry that runs from the main land to the southern portion of the Outer Banks in NC? Just found out dad is staying in Frisco which is close to the southern tip of the Banks. I know there is a ferry that runs between Ocracoke and that area, but Ocracoke is also an island way out there. To go the 'high'way is about a 6 hour drive, yet, if I could drive to the coast line and grab a ferry, it'd be a LOT quicker. TIA

Once on Occocroake, you can head either to Cedar Island, or Swan Quarter on the mainland.
